I’d say I’m probably better in real life as it’s easier to have a rapport with some or just generally give of good vibes going about your day to day business.

I think it’s one of the reasons why you hear so many horror stories about people not being like their profile. I’d rather be a pleasant surprise than a nasty one

No, I'm not exactly like I am on here - I'm multifaceted and depending on the minute one or maybe two of those facets will be on display. Very few people see the real me, in the sense of they don't see all of me and I'm comfortable with that. Different people will have such different opinions of someone anyway.

I do post how I think or feel on the whole but like a poster above I do sit on my hands a bit, I don't fancy any naughty step trips.

I might jokingly ask someone to show me their balls on here but i'd never do that in work. I'm very serious at meetings whether they be work, duties or socials. As you'd imagine there are 2 sides to me and it depends a lot on how I'm dressed.

The Sophie side of me is playful, daft, a bit of a social butterfly and up for pretty much anything so what you see of me on here is what you get.

Guy me though is quieter and more in depth, not as flirty and a little more reserved until I get to know you better and then I'm very much a mix of the two.

I think I make a conscious effort here to be a more outgoing version of myself from the get go... I think I'd probably look at it as being online fastforwards that sometimes first awkward few minutes in real life and just lets my personality out straight away (although a sarcy sense of humour is harder to get across in writing

)

I also think I'm more optimistic on here... its a lot easier to not take life as seriously online, especially mid pandemic!

I’m rarely the “real” me with anyone apart, there are usually parts of myself that I don’t share with particular groups of people. For example, my work colleagues know hardly anything about me after nearly 18 months. HR and two of the bosses know some of the important stuff but apart from that I’ve deliberately not told anyone anything personal.

In some ways I’m more “real” here because I can be openly bi here. But on the other hand there are things I wouldn’t be willing to share openly here. But that’s for my own protection more than to be “fake”, I don’t have the energy to create and maintain a fake persona!

I type a lot less in real life and don’t consider my answers so much, less considered and more frivolous. More bouts of abstract malaise.

I have no idea who I am, I’m a mystery to me, all I know is one day I arrived on this planet, (I’ve still yet to find out the reason why), anyway here I am, just trying to make it through. Everyone creates their own persona, through life experiences or whatever, they let people see what they want to see, but what is the soul, I know it’s contain in this shell we call a body, does it live on, not sure. All I know is we are merely shadows on the wall, fleeting, like dust in the wind. It’s like when you see those early black and white films where they’re filming on a street with horse and carts and trams, all those people going about their daily lives, but they’ve all gone now, they all had the same hopes, Aspirations and loves as we have, each one with their own story to tell, but they are no more.

I’m pretty much the same in real life as I am here, for the bits that actually translate online anyway.

By that I mean I can be quiet, which could manifest here as me not posting that much but there’s no real reference to judge that by.

I can also be a bit moody in real life, but that’s usually down to a life situation making me so and I’m much less likely to be triggered that way by something I see here and extremely unlikely to be by a social setting such as a private meet or interacting in a club.

The OP’s question was are you ‘exactly’ the same on here as in real life. In my opinion the obvious answer for most people is ‘no’ yet most on the thread say ‘yes’. I think people are interpreting the question as do they behave the same on Fab as in reality - funny, shy, flirty, etc.

A fair point, however if you take that a step further no-one is "exactly" the same all the time in the real world either - we all adopt and display different personas at different times down to circumstance, the individual we're interacting with and more besides - the only time we're "exactly" the same is with ourselves and our inner thoughts and feelings.

Even to take the example of "are you openly a swinger in the real world?" that may vary depending on who you are talking to - would I want family to know I was? Probably not. Would I tell select friends? I haven't, but there may be some who do.

I keep both lives separate as i work in the public eye and its more a buzz than my mundane day to day sex life .it's better as you know people on here are more open than the vanilla ones had one or two that have been a reel eye opener

Yes and No. Doc is more of an exploratory shadow persona that I created to explore parts of me that had been repressed. So while some of the time when you chat to me or see me post you are seeing what others outside Fab see, you also get much more of an uncensored me. Many of my messages or posts are stream of consciousness posts, so not previously thought through or not articulated in that way. My pictures show a me that rarely ventures outside the Fab world. I have used it to express more different aspects of me and try on different ways of being and expressing myself. So Fab and other sites and media before it have been a bit of a developmental sandpit for me to play in, in relative anonymity and safety for the last 20 years.

How much longer I will need the sandpit or have time for it is the big question for me.

Hi op!

I think I’m pretty much the same here - in that I’ll try to give an opinion or put a point across without offence where possible - but of course don’t always manage it. I’m never intentionally unkind - but sometimes I feel I may come across that way.

A case in point was a recent thread by an op who asked people to ‘rate’ her vagina. Not all comments were in praise of said vagina - and I pointed out that people had a right not to ‘like’ it if they were asked for an opinion. However - I wasn’t excusing a few of the cruel jibes people had made. Fab can be a minefield - especially when you’re not in a great place to cross it - which is why I’m rarely online these days.

I think I used to be more lighthearted and amusing - both on here and in general - but a year of virtual isolation has pretty much sucked that out of me I think!

That’s what I was trying to say - only my very closest people get to know the “real” me. I keep a lot hidden from different groups of people. Some might find that deceitful, but I’d rather not open myself up to discrimination and harassment if I don’t have to. But even my family and closest friends don’t get my inner self, I’m not even sure how you’d share that with someone.

I'm as genuine as I can be on here. My sense of humour is still a little dodgy, I'm a little awkward, but well meaning and enthusiatic too! Plus, this has made me more confident both online and in real life.
