A random conversation with my eldest child about handkerchief use... reminded me how I use to collect them as a child! Difterent colours, designs, carefully ironed and folded in a neat square and always carried one like a little lady

What random (or not) things you use to collect as a child?

I don't have many things from my childhood either. Too much moving and my grandma was ruthless like that with getting rid of things;-)

It was like chicken run where they'd had their brief taste of freedom only to have it taken away from them, they bred easily so I still kept a few.

I just took back a couple and said the rest had died

Wellingborough

Countdown comic

Penthouse magazine (US edition)

All kept flat, stored out of sunlight, and in immaculate condition.

Dinky and Corgi toys stored in the original boxes. Played with but no chips or scratches.

Unfortunately, when I started University, my parents gave the comics and magazines to a local jumble sale |( I think they lied about the Penthouse magazines which were probably burned or ended up in the general refuse).

Th toys went to my cousin who, literally, destroyed them crashing them into each other.

Quite a loss, not least in potential resale values now.

Me too... Although I liked all stationery. I always had nice ring binders and pencil cases and the bestest click pencils. Hated when classmates wanted to borrow my stuff. Normally they chewed the tops or wouldn't give it back.

It was a common past time. The art of bogey collecting was not limited to just one gender. That's the beauty of it, anyone could take part whether rich or poor, young or old.
