He didn't even call for help, just left her

I think it was terrible and my understanding is he didn't even check to see if an ambulance was on its way.

There are people that physically wouldn't be able to pick the lady up but you would assume a postman is physically fit enough to do so.

Even if he didn't want to pick her up I don't understand why he didn't stay with her until other help came or got some help for her.

My sister Found a woman who would fallen in the street, My sister was 8 months pregnant at the time so couldn't help her off the ground but shouted for help then called an ambulance and stayed with her.

There is no excuse for what this postman did.

I understand if he was hesitant with social distancing etc. But he could have called for help or stayed with her till the ambulance arrived

That is the bit I don't get.

I just don't understand how anyone would be able to just walk past.

Thankfully the delivery driver that came along next did help.

East London

If I wasn't able to I would have gone to a neighbour to ask for help.

I actually did that one very rainy evening. An old lady-a little worse for wear-had stepped out of a black taxi and fallen into the gutter as it drove away.

Fortunately, I was driving past and noticed something lying there, so stopped and saw it was a person laying in a huge puddle. I tried to get her up, but was unable to alone, so I knocked on her neighbours door for help.

Apparently, she comes home squiffy late at night quite often.

She was a 76 year old woman left alone on the freezing ground because the postman that found her was too knacked to help so walked away and left her there!

Also doesn't he actually say "I'm knackered"

Makes no mention of "I can't, work policy says I really can't" etc his very specific reason was "I can't, I'm knackered" so bottom line is he could not be arsed and didn't give a fuck.

Could have found somebody else to pick her up, but nope he just could not be arsed.

Not heard of it but common decency would have people stopping to help someone in such an awful situation.

Covid rules are superceded by emergencies such as this. He could have helped to raise her, protect and warm up, whilst getting proper protective help for her.

"Should you pick up a fallen lady on your round ?"

True story.

Lady in front of me fell down a set of steps. Went to help her told me to fuck off.

Stood up and fell down the next set.

Picked herself up and limped off with a broken heel.

Now, always check they need help... oh and check they are a lady.

I'd definitely check on her.

Just before lockdown, I was driving home on a freezing cold and very wet night when I saw an old lady down on a path.

I pulled over and checked on her. She'd slipped in the rain when her dog pulled away from her and she'd bashed her head (which was still bleeding slightly) on the floor and though I couldn't get much sense out of her, I noticed she was holding her lower back.

Not wanting to move her, just in case, I covered her with my coat, called an ambulance and sat on the wet floor in the freezing rain, in just my tshirt, trying to keep her awake for nearly an hour till the ambulance got there.

She was fine in the end, just a slight concussion and bruises.

Yeah, I'd do that again if needed.

I work with the hero who actually helped her get back up. The courier who assisted has time windows to follow, yet still assisted, because it’s the moral thing to do! I too, would let performance slide to help someone in need.

I would of helped her get up. See her safely inside and call a relative, neighbour or ambulance depending on her state...
