Nah, the movie was far better, it was an unofficial sequel-homage mashup to Charlie and the chocolate factory. The show just has the luxury of expanding upon the premise. The movie had the much better twist.

The speed these people move around that dam... Whatever number of carts it is now length train is next level Game of thrones final season speeds.

Isn't there a transport system in the basement to move along the train?

I'm told it's not bad, so maybe I should watch it, but that's by people who've never seen the film and said film isn't anywhere near the director's best so who knows...

Watch Memories of Murder or Barking Dogs Never Bite. Obviously Parasite is great, Okja is okay. Mother... Well...

It cant be as stupid as sticking children into working gears so they can keep the machine oiled like with the film version.

At least the series is more real life to a degree.

Is it though? No less real than a dude that can withstand the subzero temps.

The part they used to oil the engine went "extinct", if the engine fails everyone dies.

It is an impossible moral choice, but one that would be considered and would need to be considered even in the real world setting.

Though that's not actually the twist, just a fragment of it.
