Circolo Popolare for the unashamed ostentation and lemon meringue.

The Cheese Wheel for their pasta in a... cheese wheel.

Kitty Fisher for when I'm pretending to be a sugar baby/it's going on expenses and I want simple meals done very well.

Padella for their cacio e pepe.

Blacklock for their amazing cheesecake, fantastic waiting staff and their meat. Pure meaty goodness.

Shoryu for ramen goodness that recreates the When Harry Met Sally infamous scene.

I've kept it Londoncentric OP, there are some I really love up here and in the Home Counties but my size shows I clearly like eating and I don't want to type out a long list of amazing places.

The cock inn- (mugggington derbyshire) fresh homely cooked food, just perfect.

Hambleton hall- rutland, not to be missed ive cooked with Michelin chef Aaron Patterson, amazing food amazing setting

The C restaurant- perth Australia, angain ive cooked with Frantisek Ilizi and learnt so much from him.. my squid has been on another level since this experiance. exquisite dining perfectly prepared & attention to detail.

John's House in Mountsorrel- Leicestershire, michelin star for a reason, utter mouthgasm and all local fresh foods.

Fischer's at Baslow Hall derbyshire, sunday lunch to die for, again another ive cooked with chef Max Fischer is a real gem to the taste buds.

I am not keen on restaurant style dining

Food, to me, is about being relaxed and comfortable

I am much more your pie & a pint kind of eater

So, I am going to offer some alternative suggestions

Northern Soul Grilled Cheese - Manchester City Centre for their grill cheese sandwich with maple glazed bacon chop

Lily's Vegetarian Cuisine, Ashton-Under-Lyne - just check out the menu

Albion Farm Shop - Saddleworth for cheese & onion pie & chips

The Old Original - Scouthead, Saddleworth for lovely, home cooked, pub grub, just warming and familiar and non pretentious with low ceilings, beams and roaring fires

Moose Coffee - Manchester - mega breakfasts. The pancakes are on form.

Baltic Market Foodhall - Liverpool, trestle tables, communal eating, and a variety of street food stalls, Korean Style Gangnam chicken is amazing as are the wood fired pizzas, the potteen and the loaded halloumi fries

No but Jay Rayner is one of my idols. I'm just a girl with a hearty appetite who likes eating out when working in London/visiting for pleasure and cheese. Padella is actually really good value - fresh, I can't remember a dish over £10. Maybe their shin ragu? I think that was but it is well worth it.

Its my biggest passion in life i traveled the world 6 years ago it was such a experience cooking with idols & amazing chefs. i just wish id documented on camera.

Strictly more a gastro pub than a restaurant I guess, but the Mariners in Rock is hard to be beaten. The food is amazing and the service is excellent. I think the scotch egg maybe one of the best things I've ever tasted.

I've been way too many times to count and always been fantastic. food great, service to

match and a cool as f*ck chef owns it. I think you maybe went on an off day

you should head up this way again after lockdown to give it another try

My go tos are Mowgli indian street food, Maray's which is super fancy small plates and Villa Romana italian. Best restaurant I've been to in a long time was Vittoria in Edinburgh which is another Italian. The food was incredible.

The Moroccan just down the road, kazbar, does an amazing burger, well worth a try.

If you go to Mowgli, go to the Water Street one, not the Bold Street one. It's bigger and more spacious and I think it's a better experience personally.

I'll have to try that Kazbar. I love Moroccan food.

Rules in Maiden Lane, London, just near Covent Garden. It's the oldest restaurant in London and the food is divine, and very reasonably priced for the quality.

It's beautiful inside too and has appeared in Downton Abbey.

If you like mexican can highly recommend cafe Pacific on Langley street, just by Covent garden station.

Food is great and do some really nice cocktails as well.

Barrafina in Soho is awesome.

Amazing Spanish Tapas and the atmosphere is brilliant because you sit round a bar where they do all the cooking and it is so brilliant to watch and the food is just delicious. The restaurant only sits about 15 people, its

michelin starred but you don't book in fact you can't. I haven't been for 2 years but its the same concept, you arrive and the fun starts in the queue outside.

The staff bring bits of tapas and sometimes a drink while you wait, When I went I got there fairly early so only waited about 25 minutes. Definitely something I would recommend.

Also Tapas Brindisa is really good, its right at the entrance to Borough Market.

Great authentic Spanish Tapas and really good service.

Its lovely to sit outside in the summer and people watch too.

If you are ever in Southampton the best tapas restaurant iv ever been to is called La regatta, its family run and absolutely brilliant. The food is out of this world and the service is above anywhere else iv ever been.

Since there are a few mentions of places in Borough Market, I’ll mention El Pastor.

It’s Mexican food/tacos. Not a burrito or soggy “tortilla” chips in sight thank goodness! Pricey for tacos but the meat/ingredients are great quality.

I am really curious about Padella. There is always a long queue whenever I’ve walked past and I suppose it’s worth the wait! Thanks for the recommendation.

We've never been but its partners sisters favourite, we were meant to go for my birthday last April but for obvious reasons it was cancelled.

Iv only ever heard good things about this place.
