"But there is a difference between jealousy and envy, no?"

As I understand it envy is a reaction to lacking something. Jealousy is a reaction to the threat of losing something (usually someone)?

Jealousy is when you fear losing something to someone else ie when someone flirts with your partner, envy is when you feel resentful that you don't have something somebody else does.

Envy is most often used to refer to a covetous feeling toward another person's attributes, possessions, or stature in life. Many people use jealous to mean the same thing."

Thanks for explaining the difference between envy and jealousy. Im not jealous as dont have one to lose lol.

Ive just got back from a long walk and am definitely envious of people with one or more woodbuners. Id be feeling smug and warm if I was sitting in front of one now

I suffer from neither envy or jealousy. Both are paths to what some consider to be unnatural.

Nothing better or as cosy as a wood burner or open fire & nothing wrong with a bit of envy.

Isn't aspiration the result of envy?

Aspiration is the result of seeking to be better.
