So when it comes down to it do you prefer to live in a nice house or do you prefer to have a fancy car. My mate recently one quite a bit of money and decided that he will splash most of it on a new car the other bit he's still living with his mum and dad at 38 nothing bad at that but I would have got a house and then about a car

I would pay off my mortgage and revamp my house if I won money and just save for a car as I probably wouldn’t by an expensive car in case anything happened to it

Yeah definitely a house.

I used to deliver things many years ago and I remember a fairly crummy house has a Ferrari parked outside. The car was probably worth more than the house. I couldn't get my head around it.

House 100%

Cars are just a means to get from A to B & often treated by some as just a status symbol.

More people are going to be in my home more than my car....so a house would be my answer

I love cars

I wouldn't like a fancy one

I'd be constantly fearful of it being deliberately damaged or swiped

So, for me, the house

I love where I live so I wouldn't necessarily move, but I'd happily put 50-70k into the house to make it perfect, even though that would far exceed what it would sell for if I did put it on the market

I would be worried that an expensive car would be vandalised.

If he is still living with his parents they should have told him to gtfo if he had that much money and made the choice for him.

I'm happy with a nice house, nice car and nice sports bike but you can't use them all at once. The one you spend most time in, spend most on but nothing beats money in the bank "cash is king".

Definitely a nice house. Is pretty much a sound investment, a car will only depreciate (until it becomes a classic maybe).

I find people who drive flash cars but live in a less desirable house or area tend to be a bit ‘showy’, they want people to think they’re more wealthy/successful than they really are. The reality is it’s probably a company car or on an expensive finance scheme. We’ve had a few friends like that.

Different people at different stages of life will always have different priorities.

The 21 year old me living at home would always have gone for the new car, the 40 year old would always been house and car

I know someone who's 54 and still living at home with his mum. Everyone's life is different, different pages of different stories. So we shouldn't be too judgemental just because someone's not decided to become a slave to the system and get stuck with a mortgage!

Either way, I've already got the nice car. So I'd like the upgrade to the house please

House 100%.

I’ve invested in mine and kept the same car for 17 years.

Strangely though, the car is worth more now than it was when I bought it too!

His money his choice but house all day long for me.

You can't live a nice car.

A house value increases but a cars decreases so it's the smart investment.

La la land

I guess if that's what makes him happy leave him to it.

Me personally I drive an old banger, rather spend my money on experiences for me and the kids or towards the house. Though I don't drive that much to be honest, I guess if I was a travelling rep or something I'd want something more comfortable

House is an investment the more you spend on a car the more money you loose generally.
