We Are! Feel so unpatriotic but I just can't get into all the hype. May watch a certain event or two on telly if I can be bothered but really we aren't interested at all. I feel I should be cause its a big deal and won't be back in the UK again in my lifetime but nope I just can't get excited. Rather host my own Olympics

what is this sport thing that people go on about all the time.

I am only interested in one sport - the sort I get from being on here.

Mind you from the results here - its usually a one handed solitary event - lol

Not me, I'll be watching as much of it as I can. I agree that is been a big build up but thats inevitable but now all the hype stops and its time to enjoy the games.

Hello all,

count me as totally uninterested, I've been bored with it for months as the BBC has been counting down for ages it seems. Switched on the news this morning and there is none, except for the Olympics.

It seems big business has taken over what used to be an amateur event, and turned it into show business.

Alec

The financial cost of the whole thing has me a bit pissed off I must confess. In monetary terms, the cost of 1 minute and 12 seconds of the opening ceremony would keep Great Ormond Street's child dialysis unit running for a whole month. I guess people would rather be entertained than help suffering children

the thing is the olympics will still be a plus cash balance event. so many local small businesses have benefited from the torch relay and the trade that has come their way.

also the event as a whole will generate millions in revenue for the UK so somewhere down the line the likes of GOSH will benefit at some time.

every one is entitled to their opinions and there is plenty going on, and on TV if you dont want to watch it, so people do what they want.

personally, work permitting, i shall watch as much as i can

I doubt very much that it's a case of they "would rather be entertained than help suffering children" - The Olympics are here, you might not like them but they are here and there is nothing anyone can do to stop them happening now.

I for one am looking forward to watching them over the next 2 weeks!

I have no interest at all. Best of luck to everyone competing, but I won't be watching.

I think it's a massive expense when the money could be much better spent elsewhere. A large number of people are in genuine hardship in this country and we're wasting a fortune trying to show off to the world with a glitzy event.

eastern european female shotputters. Wouldn't like to meet any of them up a dark alley. Individual synchronised swimming ??? Steeplechase is normally good for a laugh, facefull of stagnant water, get in there. Then of course there's the mens walking events, it's like a parade of camp air stewards in running gear. Just have to look around there's something in it for everyone

I haven't been excited about it at all tbh, but today you can't avoid it on the TV. Take away all the corporate bollocks (like £12k for a ticket for tonight's ceremony.. WTF!!!) and concentrate on the sport and yeah, I'll watch some of it.

Having read all the comments i have to say how disappointed i am !!!

Seriously this is an event that happens once every 4 years and WE are hosting it !!! A once in a lifetime oppurtunity !!

Come on people seriously !! Ignore all the bullshit about the money etc and support your fellow country men/women who have been training for years to do us proud as a nation !!!

I am so proud right now of all of them and have nothing but admiration and respect for all the work/training and effort gone into making London 2012 and event of a lifetime !!!

COME ON TEAM GB

MASSIVE work has gone into it. I know a few people working down there, tube drivers, police, just normal people working together. All the work in the background is just amazing.
