"I’ll come back with a hot tub. I just know it, I haven’t been out in weeks " Write a list. You'll be fine. Or get a hot tub. It's an excellent plan.

"50 miles too far and most are collection only so you’d have to choose beforehand." Out here 50 miles is standard.... works differently when you actually have stores around you

"50 miles too far and most are collection only so you’d have to choose beforehand." I’ve checked. I can walk around the store. 50miles round trip is nothing in Devon (my nearest hospital is a 60 mile round trip) I’m gonna risk it

"50 miles too far and most are collection only so you’d have to choose beforehand." Depends where you live in London I could go 5 minutes down the road and get almost everything I need but in Devon probably not.

"I’ll come back with a hot tub. I just know it, I haven’t been out in weeks " I went to Lidl a few weeks ago to get bread, milk and sausages and came back with an electric fan, Fluffy blanket and a toilet seat.

" As long as the shopping contains an essential item them its perfectly acceptable. The problem comes because what is considered essential for one person isn't considered essential for another.

" True but the OP did specify paint which I’d struggle to see as essential. And of course the police are applying the law differently in different areas.

" Well in this life you live and learn and it would be a poor man indeed that didn’t consider all sides to a discussion before forming an opinion. That’s why I asked In light of what you have said chap, I have decided NOT to go. Paint isn’t essential and I can order online. I’ve played by the Covid rules since the start and it seems silly to break them now for a spot of paint. I appreciate everyone’s contribution to this thread. It’s why I like the forums.

"You are allowed to travel for work. I consider decorating to be work. I give you permission to get your paint. Don't try to get into the pub on the way or the way back ....... Don't lick strangers. " And because of the last point I will not go. Not being able to lick strangers has and always will be (should I have put an Oxford comma in there? Answers on a postcard)) a deal breaker.
