Depends on the amount of fluids really. Sometimes just lie on it, sometimes whack a towel on it, sometimes strip the whole bed.

Waterproof undersheet is definitely useful.

Back when the kids were little I used to double layer (waterproof sheet, normal sheet, waterproof sheet, normal sheet), that way if they wet the bed I could just whip off the top layers in the middle of the night rather than having to start changing sheets at 3am. I have seriously considered this approach on the super king sized bed because changing those sheets takes a lot of effort if they get soaked

use of a towel in the first place does help.

The wet patch does help as you both get to spoon up together and fall asleep in each others arms.

You can fall asleep resting your head on my chest whilst being cuddled.

In my experience.. Women who are regular quarters tend to be prepared with towels (A couple I met last year brought a couple of towels in before we even started playing). In the event of a particularly unexpected flooding.. A fresh sheet is a thoughtful thing to do

Depends on the fluid. If gush then a towel till the morning. If anal play and its that type then change the sheet. No matter how much deep douching you do there can still be accidents on rare times. These things happen if you are doing hard anal fucking or toy play.
