The UCI have banned the ‘super tuck’, what’s your view, is this going to far, where does it stop, what’s next, raising your hands in the air when you win a stage, or maybe getting out of the saddle on a climb ?!

Yeah read this earlier, banned due to rider safety! I see they are going to ban riders lashing drinks bottles on to the road. I agree with that one to be fair.

I agree with that, how are they supposed to dispose of them now ?

More accidents caused by Motorbikes and team cars rather than the super tuck in the last few years

Agree with the bottles though

I can’t think of one incident with the supertuck, but can think of plenty with team cars, motorbikes etc

Tough one isn't it. In triathlon we use a hydration system on bikes but that brings weight issues. I'd imagine they would be worried about liquid content as well? Apparently top level cyclists don't always tell the truth

I kinda of get it, but agree with the point about the motorbikes and cars at the same. I think it more them before a bad accident happens rather than waiting for 1 before banning. A crash from that position could do all kinds of damage

I got to admit I don’t like watching it when they do it, it looks ungainly and makes me cringe, one mistake at 60mph in that position doesn’t bare thinking about, I’m not even sure there’s much difference in that position than in the conventional tuck, speed wise anyway!

I don't know about the safety reasoning? We've all watched professional group sprints 500m from the line. Absolutely no fucks are given by the top men and women there. Where do we stop with safety? Are the dubious gains of a tuck, more dangerous than a sprint for a tour stage victory?

Either way can't wait for the Tour this year!

It is actually against UCI rules to raise both hands off the bars, even when crossing the finishing line first.

DAFT....being the best means pushing and taking risks and I'm sure the top riders are confident/experienced enough to do it if they choose to.........

I’ve been out and now I’m back, no supertuck for Aero gains for me.

You’d think so, will they remove a sprint finish too, seen loads of crashes in the last 500 yards ?!

Southport

Seems a bit unnecessary really. The riders generally don't come into close contact with other rider's on descents and are obviously adept in the tuck position. As a few of you have pointed out, the sprint finishes and jostling for position appear to be far more concerning.

Newcastle and Gateshead

I wonder if it is being done to slow down the descents.... the bloke who crashed over the bridge at the tour of Lombardy was one lucky man.....

Remco Evenepoel, yeah he was, I’m not sure if he was in the super tuck on that descent, it’s generally pretty windy, but he definitely over cooked it.

When they perch on the crossbar, it does get my hackles up, but I guess if no ones allowed to do it now, at least it will be the same for everyone.

I tired doing it once.. And felt completely out of control. It did yield a KOM on a very fast downhill Strava section though.

I’ve yet to sacrifice my bollocks for a KOM

However, it would be recorded forever. As we all know, if it isn't on Strava it hasn't happened.
