"2021 kicks off tomorrow with The Italians opening up against France. So obviously scores are a bit complicated to predict but for opening weekend, who's taking the win from the firstb3 games. England v Scotland Italy v france Ireland v Wales Formalities "should" run Frances wayfarer the points against Italy. Assuming Eddie Jones hasn't tinkered the squad too much the Win should come home for England. And prediction for the Sunday technical one I tip Ireland to take it Discuss..... " Totally agree mate

"At last some normality Six Nations rugby is here ... All this thread needs now is the comment and predictions from Fabio, and all is good in the world Off to do some warm up stretches, make sure the boots are clean just in case I get the call from GT at the last minute Today ... ITV from 1.30pm - kick off 2.15pm Italy v France followed by the Calcutta Cup on ITV - England v Scotland kick off 4.45pm " Prediction..... France, England, Ireland.... Comments on the standard of reffing, big boys playing in the back line... and my irrational hatred of Yohann Huget, will come later!!!

And 4... yes the Snuggie is out.... no pics!!!!! " Saracens players - not played rugby since November last year? EJ playing this down saying it makes them hungrier and fitter ... hmm Refereeing - first year without the quality of Nigel Owens. Huget - I know you will miss his flowing locks and stunning good looks ... doesn’t even make the bench for today’s Italy match

Actually if you want a proper rugby point from me (probably only one you’ll get from me today) i want to see how the young Italian halves play, the Gloucester kid chose Italy over wales, so that shows something Also.... which Finn Russell turns up today for the Scots?

" France have a depth of stunning players at the moment, so I expect it won’t be too long before you can find a few more to irrationally dislike. Garbisi and Varney for Italy - will keep an eye on these today. Italy have a record of attracting players with dual nation eligibility - Tommaso Allan (Tommy Allan as he’s known in Scotland chose Italy over Scotland) Talking of which looking forward to seeing Cameron Redpath (Bath rugby) who has finally decided to play internationally for Scotland - having been included in Eddie Jones selections in the last year or so. Finn Russell - who knows !!??? Watching some of the Racing games last year, it’s clear the club are developing him really well - he’s learning to keep the heed, but still retaining that skill for the sublime pass or instinctive running angle to open up the field. Whether the Townsend relationship is repaired - time will tell - magic or moody, he might just have an edge on a rusty Farrell

"My first gripe of the afternoon... i hate it when the tackle in the air rule is applied like that..... i know its the rule but he was probably only 3 inches off the floor....." Agree but they are absolutely running scared of head injuries at the moment and the liability that comes with it. So this rule is always going to be stringently enforced.

"And this thread is living proof of the difference between football and rugby fans (for the most part) Pure class from you all! " That's Rugby. I remember watching England v France World cup semi final, sitting in a French bistro with mates, England won and the French applauded at the end of the game and shook our hands in congratulations when we left... As you say, pure class.

"Absolutely deserved that.... Scotland were the better team all over the park... Ritchie Gray was immense! You surely mean Jonny Gray, Ritchie Gray came on as a replacement. Jonny was MoM for me. I meant a gray!!!! Also remember that Scotland this year get 3 games at home..... so the question is do we quietly mention the word “Championship”? I'll confess to being a staunch England supporter, but will freely admit to being glad to see Scotland playing a meaningful part again. "Championship"....not convinced tbh, beware France! I'm looking at 4th or 5th for England based on today's performance....hope I'm wrong but no confidence in anything higher unless Eddie rings the changes... NOW!! " The thing that worries me about France is that they have to go to both Dublin and HQ this year.... I don’t think any team will “grand slam” it this year... i think i could see a final weekend where 3 or even 4 of the teams could nick it....

Was in Dublin 2 years ago, most of the Irish supporters were great, lots of handshakes and congrats flowing....never seen rugby fans leave before the end before.....obviously not real rugby fans!! Bloody great night though

"Scotland entertaining and enterprising, thoroughly enjoyed their performance and deserved the victory, should of been more convincing on the scoreboard if I had to criticise anything. Hamish Watson puts half a dozen performances in like that and he’s a lions 7 for me. England... Nice bright white shirts. The Lions back row Selection is going to be really contentious all season i think..... all i will say is that there will be more that two Scots in this visiting party..... Huge strength in the back row across all nations Some lads are going to be really unlucky not to tour, but he can only take so many " Some of the form players... Luke cowen dickie Harry randall Dombrandt Simmonds times two Marcus smith Paolo odogwu Max Malins Oli thorley Dave ewers Nathan hughes All in form... Wtf Billy is doing in the squad is beyond me he's shot....

In fairness that was more to do with injury risk management and also not pumping trail finders not really player choice was it? Or do you know differently?

" I don’t know Just seems kind of arrogant to think you can drop in so many of your star players without them actually having played any rugby for an extended period of time. If it is injury management by the RFU, it didn’t work very well for them did it.

Its ridiculous to expect any player to just be parachuted in at the very top level having not played for months. What's even more ridiculous is seeing that they were very clearly out of their depth and leaving them out there... Though of course that will have helped them for the next weeks fixtures in the campaign. I suspect there is also funny shenanigans with sarries with rfu saying they would select their internationals otherwise they'd have left sarries when they were relegated... But that's juts me being a cynic

"Wales v Ireland today 3.00pm kick off - BBC1 I’m sure the roof will be closed, but without the fans it won’t provide any of the normal home noise advantage. Ireland win ?" Well the welsh tend to win in Dublin... and the Irish tend to win in Cardiff ,,,, It’s going to be a close...... but i do fancy another away win! I was thinking about the lions tour.... as i do... and trying to work out how many places in the starting XV are really up for grabs.... the only real locks i have are Itoje in the 2nd row, Sexton at 10, and Hogg as my Full back.... but other than that, i think its really wide open

You want to wait until end of 6N to see if his 35 year old body has survived? Man of the moment Russell would be an obvious choice, but I can understand a nervousness around his magic or madness temperament. Maybe if he can show consistency and maturity in the next few games he might be looked at with different eyes?

"It is weird watching 6N without the passion of the crowd!" I’ve actually enjoyed watching the games without the crowd tbh, you can hear the players shouting to each other, calling plays etc, the ref giving them a telling off, really quite enjoyed it

"Shocking. Great player but has a tendency to skirt the rules and this time went too far." It’s the whole clearing out process when there was no need to do so... Southern Hemisphere players do it all the time and get away with it....
