Working nights

Maybe a bit off topic but I've been working nights 11pm - 7am and struggling to find at decent sleeping pattern where i am not in bed all day, any one have any similar experience or tips?

Yea its a nightmare apart from forum to keep me going.Im on from 6 to about 4am can't sleep when I get home,feel ditty all day.Glad I could help!sorry

This is generally why us night shift workers tend to not live as long as normal day workers. I get by on about 4 to 5 hours of sleep a day.... I use the alexa apps to get me off to sleep and have a black out curtain

I work 4 am till 11 am long as I have my 5 hrs I'm good I go to bed at 9 30 and get up at 2 45 seems to work x

I worked 4 on 4 off 12hr nightshifts and it totally effed up my body clock Hence this reply

I just seem to adapt on my days of I just sleep in longer x

Aww fellow night shifters .... I lone work 21:00 -08:00 by 09-00 I'm sleeping and wake up 17:00-18:00 hrs if husband is looking after kids.The problem starts when I am off I can't sleep at all

Male half I work nights it’s three weeks 6 to 6 in morning then two weeks off then back for another three weeks 6 to 6 sleep pattern is so hard to get into when get home then have a cpl months off feel better then back at least get own cabin on nights

A lot of people are struggling to sleep just now. So out of interest the night workers have always worked night shift? If so the routine is the same.

I'm booked on at 2359 this week till 9am.

Luckily I dont need to be anywhere untill 3am.

So bed at 10 up at 2 back in bed at 8am sleep to midday.

I've done 12hr nights in the past. Apart from hot weather sleeping has been ok 6hrs or more.

Did it for 4 months, never again , I was getting about 3 hours sleep , tried ear plugs , black out blinds etc but my body clock wasn’t having it , every week I was getting more and more grumpy, had zero energy, so moved back to days

I've worked nights for over 25 years, I wouldn't like to go back to working days.

Monday mornings I'm usually awake for 05:00, then I'm up all day, off to work in the evening and by Tuesday morning I'm really tired after being up 24 hours.

So Tuesday mornings I try to aim my head on the pillow by 06:00, I get 6-7 hours decent sleep which sets my body clock back into nights for the rest of the week.

Some people enjoy nights I've know some to swap to work nights.

Getting up early for day shift with an alarm is not enjoyable.

Nights I wake up when I'm ready .

I have worked full time nightshift for 24years. I start at 8 and finish at 8. My sleep pattern is awful. Sometimes i am back at work after only 4hrs sleep. I try to catch up on days off but find myself wide awake at 2am.
