So see fab is in the news again . A police man from north wales using his ex wife’s pictures to make a profile pretending to be a single lady . Does fab need to review its policy on verifying new members ?

Yes I think they should

They should put in place a 24 hour limit to when the account was made to be photo verified if not account is deleted

Also you should be put in to a holding room where you can’t see or search any users or messages

Till your photo verified has been complete

Why the 24 hour hold is give admin time to verifie it’s real

Surely having to be a photo verified site supporter before having the privilege of being able to send messages would stop a lot of the fly by nights and fakes?

Make it mandatory monthly fee will not really sort the problem

As £30-£40 a month is nothing for someone to get they kicks pretend to be fake

Yes it will down size it but will not stop it

I don't follow this argument.

If it's £20 to join maybe no one will do it for a laugh for one night BUT if they are doing it because the want or need to for whatever reason then £20 won't put them off .....

The increase in fees won't stop someone who wants to identify as another gender for legit or creepy reasons from doing so.

Exactly this. All that would do is price out a lot of genuine people and make it a very exclusive club. Which seems unfair.

Photo verification is good but can be avoided.

Might be better if every three months you need to go through verification again.

Possibly even have a Kik / whatsapp group of admins that you have to show your face etc too before the account is allowed to message etc.

Charging people isn’t necessarily going to put people off, but a more onerous verification process might remove a lot of the fakes

Definitely agree with the verification process. Then pics you upload are vetted more carefully so male profiles can't upload pics of women without their knowledge.

In all honesty, my opinion is there's no reason for people to not be photo verified. It's you holding a piece of paper for christ sake - noone sees it except the admin.

Sadly it seems you need a process of verifications to be ‘safe’ on here

Only interact with photo verified profiles

Only interact with meet verified or fab chatroom verified profiles.

Be more wary of newer profiles or older profiles with no veris

Reverse image search pictures

Ask to do a video call

Meet in (post covid) in public social places

Theres always going to be asshats who enjoy disrupting the simplicity that is fab. Stupid asshats.

Most people on Fab can spot a fake profile can they not?

Perhaps a more stringent verification process

A monthly fee

Or s period to get verified?

I'd be happy to provide a copy of a utility bill alongside a photo verification etc.

I kinda think it should be standard practice.

Would also have people thinking twice about getting pushy, arranging meets now etc.

If there were real possible consequences for their actions rather than the anonymity fab currently offers I think it would be a nicer place.

I know a lot of people wouldn't want that tho as they value their privacy, but for me it's only the same as joining a club. You have to prove who you are when you join.

I personally think photo verification is pointless in this day and age of technology.

A delay in being able to send messages and all new profiles automatically having maximum filters on to start with would be good though.

I think that to be a member here and be allowed to post we should.....

1. Have a visit from FAB to our homes to take a photo of us buck naked with our names tattooed on our arses.

2. The photo will only be taken when you have provided

a) your birth certificate

b) your passport

C) utility bill or bank account details

AND most importantly d) your mum is with you to say it really is you. If you can't provide a mum then a neighbour who has spoken to you every day for six years.

Once the photo is taken and all your details photocopied you can begin to make a profile.

The profile will be checked against photos....... so that if you use the words 'good looking' and you are only decidedly average or below you will be reminded to tell the truth and nothing but .....

You must then sign up for a 2 year contract and pay a fee equal to your council tax rates.... this benefits those in poorer areas.

After you have paid three months membership you can contact people and use the forum.

That should help .....

Shit I forgot ...... You must give details of all past illnesses and innoculations and of any spent prison sentences or up and coming court appearances.....

And state whether you take it up the bum........ it's the only way.

The profile will be checked against photos....... so that if you use the words 'good looking' and you are only decidedly average or below you will be reminded to tell the truth and nothing but .....

Maybe just do a live photo verification instead of one with us holding a piece of paper with a username on it

That's to get Photo verified....not too give a verification of either meeting or seeing on Cam

"Yes I think they should

They should put in place a 24 hour limit to when the account was made to be photo verified if not account is deleted

Also you should be put in to a holding room where you can’t see or search any users or messages

Till your photo verified has been complete

Why the 24 hour hold is give admin time to verifie it’s real

I like it"

I like you

If it was a monthly fee for being on here then we'd be gone, we couldn't afford to pay 20 quid a month

The fee is £5 for two months, making everyone pay that will help stop a lot of people making lots of fake profiles, we see the same people week in and week out coming and going, they may think twice if it cost them a £5 ago

Think some people are missing the point . This guy hadn’t stole pics off the net or off fab he was actually using private pictures he had taken of his wife . He did it first in 2016 and his wide found out which is why they got divorced , once divorced he did it again . He was swapping her pics on Snapchat with other woman and men pretending to be her .

I don't think anyone is missing the point, what he did is illegal and immoral.

But it's not up to the people who run this site, or the volunteer admins who assist, to police something so very impractical to police.

Well if their not responsible for what goes on on this site who is ? All websites should have something in place to stop people committing fraud surely ? I just think there should be a stricter process before joining. Let’s be honest this sites for adults but anyone in their teens could open a profile on here

What verification system does Snapchat use before people can use it?

Yes, they could. And likely do. But they are committing fraud by doing so, as they would be stating they are over 18. And neither you nor I know what happens if and when they are found out.

But a "stricter" joining process would still be open to abuse. And would deter some really great people from joining.

Nothing that the owners or admin of this site do will stop people who will commit this kind of fraud from doing so.

I don't think this is fabs problem to be honest.

If it wasn't here that he posted them, then it could have been anywhere else... porn websites, Twitter etc. As long as Fab remove photos as soon as notified then they shouldn't be held responsible for some stupid asshole.

I think the only person here who needs to take some responsibility is the selfish wanker who uploaded them in the first place.

Perhaps the knowledge that it is ILLEGAL should be enough to stop people.

But as it isn't, my point stands that if someone is going to do it, they are going to do it no matter what checks are put in place.
