A reporter did a blind test and little difference between premium brands and budget brands...

The sample size of four different brands was too small. Appalling research. She should be dunked in a bath of beans as punishment.

Missin’ Yo’ Kissin’

I buy 6 pack of Sainsburys beans. I prefer them to Heinz and they are a hell of a lot cheaper and taste nicer! Home brands often do.

The only reason I changed was because of the previous lockdowns. It was a choice of "J.S" or eating nothing..... I think someone must have a massive stash of beans somewhere and is making a "Game Of Thrones" chair from the empties! Either that or D.I.Y trench art.

Sometimes there is no difference in taste between home brands and top branded brands - and sometimes there is! It's the packaging that you are paying for. It makes a big difference on your bill too if you choose the cheaper one! Just sayin'.

Depends on your taste and what you are used to surely if we were to define what is best. If I am used to a particular brand for a while and then suddenly switch, the newer brand tastes weird... Until I get used to it then the former brand becomes weird.

Whatever the the brand of baked beans, they all seem to have the same effect, which can be handy if you can't afford to have your own jaccuzi installed. You simply eat enough of them, and go and take a bath!

They do differ but we also get accustomed to specific tastes and marketing, plus our own biases, can lead us to believe that our preference is the best. I've not got to enjoy cornflakes or beans as much as Kellogs and Heinz yet. Perhaps blind tests could be a social idea for us?

All baked beans are exactly the same be it branded or own brand.

The sauce however certainly is not the same, and it’s the sauce that make the beans taste different.

I am not loyal to any particular baked bean brand. Call me a baked bean slut if you like. However, I did try a French/Italian brand. There was French text but it had the word Napoli on the name so was confusing. It was a cheap buy I'll admit from Asda or Tesco. Anyway, it was hands down the worst I've tried. The beans were actually smaller than any beans I've had. The sauce was watery and bland too.
