Do you have to fill the void in your life?.....

From the land of haribos.

To be with someone or are you happy being single? It comes after I was watching one of my utubers maxx chewnings latest video q and a's about relationships. I dont really have to do that cos I am happy being single and as well I am happy to be in my company, it is a personal choice

Having left an abusive relationship, I'm far happier single now than I was in that relationship.

I feel no need to fill that void simply because I'm scared of being hurt again so it's easier to be on my own.

Occasionally I get a little lonely on an evening but I'm fine with my own company.

I prefer being single with regular friends if I fancy some company. I get wanderlust and felt caged in a mono relationship so its better for me to stick to what I know suits my lifestyle

I'm generally happy being single but (& I think partly due to the lockdowns) I find myself wanting adult company & affection a bit more than usual.

No I don’t have to. I am happy enough being single. But being in a relationship where all your needs are being met is awesome, sexually, emotionally, etc. (although it’s a right shitter if it ends) but I would love to have that kind of relationship again. I like having a special someone and I like being someone’s special one.

A lot of folk on here have been hurt and are reluctant to love again. I’m not one of them.

I don’t NEED it, but I’m not closed off to it either.

I wouldn't be happy being single. I haven't been since I was very young and I don't want to be. I don't think of it as filling a void, is that how the YouTube guy refers to it? Very odd

I don't understand what the void thing is all about

But after unsuccessful relationships and a lot of heartache being single is easier.

I'd like the Clinton Cards version of a relationship but I'm not so keen on a real one.

I think it also depends on what stage of life you are at. I'm long time single but with work , sporting hobbies and being comfortable in my own company i'm happy enough most of the time.

As approach retirement though (not quite yet unfortunately) i think I would like to have someone to share the time with, don't think I'd like to grow too old on my own.

I'd happily be by myself, but having a partner enhances my life. People aren't sticky plasters to fill voids. It's better to work on your own self happiness than to work on a relationship when you're not happy with yourself.

Voluntarily single for coming up to nineteen years now. Very satisfied with this state of affairs. No plans to alter that.

Lockdown is lonely at times, for sure, but I'd still prefer singldom to a relationship. There is no void for me, not now anyway. Once upon a time the void seemed very real and I was desperate to connect with another person who 'got' me on a level that nobody else ever had. It turns out that all I needed was to 'get' and nurture myself (she says flippantly).

Having autism combined with being a parent dictates that any potential partner would have to fit a very limited and specific criteria. I highly doubt that person exists, but right now I'm happy with that. One day that person may present themselves, in which case I wouldn't turn them away, but I dont feel like I need that to happen in order to feel fulfilled.

Living alone is amazing you're going to love it!

Everything is on your terms.

It's been a year for me now and I don't see it changing.

I've told friends and family to slap me if I ever move anyone in my flat

I feel contentedly complete when I found my other half in 2012 - when I started crossdressing. The void space is filled when both parts of me finally exist.

Completely agree about living alone being amazing. I used to think I suffered from undiagnosed depression, but I was just in shared accommodation. Cleared right up when I got a place by myself. I've been here eleven years now, and the thought of ever having to share again is an utter nightmare.

I was always afraid of living alone and stayed in a broken toxic relationship so I didn't have to.

I felt like I couldn't do it emotionally or financially.

But getting a place that is all mine was the best decision I've ever made and wished I had done it 20 years ago!

In short, for me, NO. However, I don't know if being a parent is what changes that for me. I already have a really important person who comes first, even before me, so relationships are kinda secondary.

It wasn't my intention to think that all men are bad in relationships but with the amount of cheats on here and some negative dating site experiences... It's put me off.

After nearly 45 years of living with other people living on my own this past year has been life changing.

It feels so right - like a massive weight has been lifted.

If I have a relationship again then we definitely won't live together.

Some people can't be on their own for long the reasons they give I've never understood.

Some people feel they're a failure if not in a relationship, I think that's sad.

So they often jump feet first into a new relationship hardly knowing much about the person in question.

After two long term relationships ended I decided that living alone for life is my best option.

I just enjoy my own space far too much now it really is that simple for me.
