Or is Brains from Thunderbirds in charge of us all?

He's a puppet so maybe we're all puppets.

Makes you think doesn't it?

I’m only thinking about his blue thick rimmed specs, a bold statement for sure.

On a mooch

Brains in charge of us, they make us move, they kick start our emotions, they help us talk and so many more things you just take for granted all from memories learnt.

The tiny bit of ‘us’ that is in control, is your day to day interactions with others and whether you choose to learn from the lessons it has stored to remind you.

So there’s no such thing as free will, interesting.

There and to the left a bit

Brains are part of us and therefore both answers are technically correct - the brain is merely the control panel part of us that sends signals to the limbs to move, the eyes to see, the ears to listen and the mouth to speak etc

The brain also controls emotions and thoughts which translate into words and actions.

For me the only free will is you deciding what is right or wrong based on what you have been taught, your memory remembers.

It’s your choice to push your body into that action or not based on that...... example you fall off your bicycle, break your arm, you know it could happen again if you get back on, but you do it anyway. However, would you make the same decision jumping off a cliff ?

Rambled but I think it makes sense

Brains in charge of us is the current neuroscience as I understand it. Our brains make decisions micro seconds before we process them consciously and we then rationalise those decisions.

‘Thinking Fast and Slow’ by Nobel winner Daniel Kahneman is a brilliant introduction to this subject with lots of good advice on how to recognise the process and do reach better decisions.

If that’s the cause, your brain should be on the same team.

La la land

Both are in control, even the heart has its own brain of sorts, which is kinda flipping awesome in my eyes. My brain can rationalize loads of shit I shouldn't do and then I go do it. So goodness knows whose in control. Guess it depends which part of my brain is working at any given time

This is a simple question used in the book to illustrate ‘fast’ thinking.

A bat and ball together cost £1.10. The bat costs exactly £1 more than the ball. How much is the ball ?

That might explain a few things though! Also because they believe they are clever they probably rush to an answer quicker than most and don’t question it. A big part of the book I mentioned is not to make these sort of quick assumptions, and I guess that also goes for how we react to people as well?
