It means clueless of what is going on in one's surroundings. Also if a person is talking to another and the person listening doesn't know what is going on they are consequently "lost in the sauce."

All the time, I’m oblivious to most going on, but then I kinda like it that way

You know when you hear your favourite song and zone out, you’re lost in the words and the music, meanwhile someone’s trying to tell you about their divorce and you’re not listening, that sort of thing.

Thank you, i'm drowning in the stuff if thats the case, always lost in the sauce. I find it diffucult to be in the present and the past and future is where my head is at most of the time. Need that chocolate flake bunny to come back and remind me to take it easy.

Me too, I’m usually wrestling with the voices in my head.

That's a new phrase for me too. "Away with the fairies" is one I'm familiar with. Or"the lights are on but there's no one home".

Depends. If my Dad is monologuing on buses in the Leeds area circa 1960 then I may be guilty of going to my mental happy place. Is that what you mean? I've never heard of The Sauce before

That was a fine fine year for buses, yes sort of, but I was thinking more like what music, what things you do, maybe sculpting or collect bark etchings etc, or may the glimpse of a tie deer in the mist, basically I like the phrase and wanted to horn shoe it into a thread.

Basically I haven’t been out for 10 months, time is abstract, words have no meaning anymore.

This for me too.

I thought lost in the sauce was a reference to being pie-eyed.

I thought it was when you’re blissed out on some particularly good dub funk fusion and the bass player has cut loose with a solo.

There and to the left a bit

"Who knew! I always that it meant a person was d*unk ... every day's a school day "

So did I and was about to regale the thread with the story that started with Tequila slammers in Hammersmith and ended with me waking up on a train near Potters Bar and not knowing what happened in between

I think you are confusing chocolate flake with Cadbury’s Caramel.

I suggest that whilst watching the aforementioned advertisement you were ‘lost on the sauce’.

On a mooch

That for me means lost at the bottom of the bottle, ie zoning out through alcohol.

Away with the fairies is how I’d describe your meaning, last time probably in my last job so a good 18 months ago, if someone else needs to be part of it.
