Is it just me or do you appreciate a bit of a laugh and banter when you chat to folk on fab? I genuinely miss the social side and looking for a laugh rather than anything else. Anyone else feel like this too?

I have noticed the chat is very different these days. I thought it was me and my sense of humour was locked away in the drawer with all my jeans that no longer fit! Fecking lockdown!

My issue is I have a very dry and sarcastic sense of humour, for some reason it really does not go down well these days. Wasn't like that before. Or maybe I'm just not funny at all! Nah.....can't be that!

You'd expect folk to be more chatty and want to have a laugh to break up the boredom eh?

yes that’s exactly what I kinda expected! Even just normal chatting etc.. like you said previously you thought it could just be your banter, like I said I thought that too! Must just be people like us who still “no” what banter is! Am I right!

Exactly! I appreciate my humour doesn't translate too well by text but when you do chat to someone that gets it it's totally worth it. Used to tone it down a wee bit but now I just go for it!

Yup! I get that there is bugger all to talk about cause we can't do anything but you can still make boring stuff funny. You'd think folk would want some daft lighthearted chat. I know I do!

. Tbh even with just a couple messages I can usually tell. It should just flow. Chilled. Jokes. Flirting etc. Serious convo at the right time etc. Anyway I’m at an age, I know what I bring to table, and won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but equally nor they mine. I spent years trying to prove myself to not worthy woman. Wow essay alert. My thumbs hurt

That essay is kinda impressive, I know men have trouble texting because of their big daft man thumbs. Shows effort btw! I get that, the older I get the less I give a shit. Like me or loathe me I'm just what it says on the tin.

We genuinely miss the social side too. Banter is one of those words that confuses me slightly though. It doesn't mean quite the same as it used to and if someone says that other people don't understand banter I'm a bit wary of them.

Absolutely. Can't beat a good bit of banter and laughter.

We are really missing the social side and seeing our friends. We do have banter through messaging but it's nowhere near the same.

We are the same, well mostly me because I'm the chatty one! I'm currently working at home and with the kids all day so I'm starved of adult conversation a lot of the day. My chats with people on here keep me going! Luckily I have met some people who are happy to put up with me wittering on about mindless crap We do find it more difficult with couples though and often the conversation drops off.

I like the general chit chat and banter with my friends, but when you have over 5 men wanting to start conversations at the same time it gets quite stressful to keep up with all of them, plus your friends and have a real life, so I am guilty of avoiding making new friends on here atm

Also if your banter doesn't match theirs you find yourself being accused of lacking a sense of humour.

To be honest I am not missing it at all. My biggest fault is that I don't don't like socialise with anyone. I much prefer the no nonsense time wasting approach to things.

Somewhere over the rainbow...

I’m definitely missing it. Most of my colleagues don’t have the same flirty, naughty sense of humour as me and I’ve been told I laugh too loud!

I honestly can’t help it.

I think the forums are usually better for banter than messages.

The forums always make me think of kicking out time at the pub.

Some people are happy tipsy and talking allsorts of funny shite stuff.

Some people are angry tipsy and looking for a fight.

Someone is puking in a gutter and another kind person is holding back their hair.

Banter is a over used word I find, if you initiate a conversation with someone who you have never actually met in person, then it can become a little one sided and tedious.

I know a lot of us "get used to each other" by the way we post on the forums, it by no way means that we would act like that in real life.

Oh, I'm just an eejit in real life anyway, as most of ma veris can confirm

I would disagree, I chat and say things that I would in person. I suppose I could say anything on here to be fair but people that have met me have said the same thing.

Nothing wrong with being an eejit, a fun eejit though!
