Just putting it out there ...

As there’s nothing else to do while locked down I’ve took to cooking

Sooo

Have discovered that the secret to a good sauce is the pack of corn flour in the back of the cub board that I’ve had for years and never used

Anyone else with me ??

I would dissolve the cornflour in a little cold water in a cup and pour in, but yep! Good call.

Yes cornflour works.

If you put it in a small bowl add a little water and rub it between your fingers rather than stir it works better.

It becomes oobleck if you stir too much.

I don't like using cornflour

It gives a gloopy consistency

Just mix it with a water before adding it to the sauce and add a little at a time. I’ve never had it gloopy but we like a thick sauce or gravy.

Use it all the time. I cook a lot of Chinese food and cornflour is a common ingredient in them. It's so simple to use, saves time making a roux and avoids the need to use fat.

Titz Towers, North Notts

I like Freddie Farrell’s Fat Bastard Hot Sauce. He makes it himself, so you won't find it in shops, but he's easily googled.
