What’s your favourite smell that brings memories?

For me, it’s the smell of the salty air when you are at the seaside/ocean. Along with the sun cream. Reminds me of summer!

(I also absolutely adore the smell of sweet baked goods tho it’s just what I like, doesn’t particularly brings memories)

Apple pie. Reminds me of my granny's home made ones with the apples from her apple tree. She used to put coins in them for us to find. Loved it. Kinda dangerous and unhygienic when ya think about it though lol

Plymouth

I have vivid memories of the smell of the girls perfume, the first girl I had a slow dance with at the school disco.

Smell is our oldest most evocative sense...

My mum's hands always used to smell of bleach and onions, that's very evocative of my childhood.

Cigar smoke reminds me of Christmas because it's the only time my dad would smoke one

Freshly cut grass reminds me of the start of the cricket season.

Also, lilies. Someone gave my mum some when we moved house and now the smell of them always reminds me of that time

The smell of freshly cleaned leather, just reminds me of my tack room on a Sunday morning when I used to be a full time groom.

The smell of doughnuts cooking always takes me back to buying them at the Pleasure Beach in Blackpool as a kid. I used to get 6 in a bag with sugar.

Musty canvas. Old skool camping

Freshly bruised tomato vines. Scorching heat in the US yards I grew up in.

Oil & grease

Like the type you smell in old style garages

My Dad worked in heavy engineering and I used to go to work with him some days

The smell of the factory has stuck with me to this day

Ooooh that's brilliant. There's a food trailer in Derby city centre that sells them and I love the smell when walking down the high street

Also jet fuel

As a kid I spent many an hour at the end of the runway at Manchester Airport

The heat off the engines and the smell of the jet fuel as they spun round for take off was great

Green apple reminds me of my Grandmas favourite soap bar which was shaped sort of like and Apple logo one of my cherished childhood smells. And lilies of the valley as she always requested them for her namesday celebration in May. And daisies because of the crowns she would plait for me.

So many of mine are about my grandparents. Maybe because visiting them was usually a happy occasion.

Habit Rouge by Guerlain male fragrance and cigar smoke remind me of my first serious love affair.

Bread baking and home made hot cross buns remind me of my Dad who always made them for Easter.

Lavender reminds me of the little bags my Mum used to make to put in my underwear drawer.

Under the Duvet

The smell of Swarfega and engine oil reminds me of my dad's shed, particularly the first summer he'd built it and us kids had colonised it for the duration of the summer holidays.

Think we even slept out in it

London/Essex... ish... Romford to be exact

Playdoh. Those carefree afternoons spent perfecting my art after a gruelling session on the tricycle.

Also, the smell of diluted Ribena from a plastic flask and sweaty ham sandwiches which also smelled kind of like plastic reminds me of the misery endured during my nursery years.
