I have old friends on here. Way *to close personally to be anything more than friends. Anyway, they sent me a WhatsApp message recently, which prompted me to post this *hear.

Browsing *thru profiles, I find there are many points which put me *of. Some I can filter, such as 'non-smokers'...

I do wish there *was some other filters though. Such as 'doesn't have toilet in background of pics'. If you're trying to sell yourself on a site like this, surely you need to spend a bit of a time taking half decent pics?

"What do the wee stars mean?"

Wee stars...

Brilliant, made me chuckle. This post was written for a specific purpose. There are far too many unfriendly, argumentative people on this forum. They criticise for no reason other than their own ego.

My friends asked me to create a controversial forum post, so they could block such people. My friends have no desire to ever meet anybody like that. This is the reason for the title.

The little stars as highlighted by 'Mr Bants' we're me highlighting my intentional spelling and grammar mistakes. This was to encourage the pedantic forum users to comment.

Unfortunately, I'm not a controversial person. So creating a post at the correct level isn't easy. Clearly this one didn't work as intended. Instead I attracted funny and curious people.

I'll try again in a few weeks with far less clues!

If you're wondering why this started, have a read of my last post. See what pedantic idiots we're replying. I chatted to my friends about it, they read the post and realised one of those pedantic profiles (I am not permitted to name them) was due to meet them at the end of lockdown. Not any more!

This lifestyle is based on liberalism and bring open minded. Neither are true for those who criticise others for no good reason

I didn’t see a huge problem with how people replied, people questioned your opening post, which, on an open forum is to be expected, particularly given the content of the opening paragraph.

"I’m curious as to why your friends haven’t posted it themselves? "

Single guys are far more likely to attract criticism than a couple. Especially as she's quite attractive.

Also as you'll see in my comment above, one of the profiles was due to meet my friends. Would somebody unnecessarily criticise another whom they are hoping to meet?

I'm probably going to be closing my account soon because I 'think' I'm about to enter committed relationship one lockdown permits us to meet again. So I'm quite happy to play the scapegoat

To be brutally honest I see no real logic in all this? If your friend was unsure about someone, why did they need you to do something so outside the norm?

Why not just be straight to the point with the person?

I don't understand the need for this post OP. Your friend could just block anyone that doesn't take their fancy or something that they aren't looking for - eg people demanding pics straight away, obviously fake profiles. I have blocked some profiles and some have blocked me.... It's up to them.

What about the profiles who are all sweetness and light in their messages but are a totally different character in the forums?

'fake' profiles take many guises. How many of you have met somebody from here but then found them to be totally different to what they portray in their messages?

I met a girl from a nearby town who said " you're the first guy I've met who isn't different to their messages'. She had 17 verifications and I was the first to not pretend to be somebody different to what I am. Amazing!

As I've already said, this lifestyle is supposed to be based on liberalism and being open-minded.

Liberal - willing to respect or accept behaviour or opinions different from one's own; open to new ideas.

Open minded - willing to consider new ideas; unprejudiced

Do either of these terms describe the majority of commentators here?

I didn't say it was. In an earlier post, I said I was happy to be scapegoat.

Though 'entrapment' is an interesting word to use. Only those who have the intent to commit the act can be entrapped. Have a look at the effort people put in to criticising me on this forum.

Everybody has preferences and everybody aversions to certain characteristics. Actively putting effort in to criticising somebody for absolutely no reason whatsoever, other than you want to, is a horrendous character trait.

If this post highlights some 'trolls', then their actions far outweigh my entrapment.

Criticising one person or a collective makes no difference. It’s still a negative and unnecessary trait.

Personally I don’t see the need to publicly announce your intentions on anyone on here regardless of the fact no names are mentioned.

I wouldnt waste my time with the fish OP. Im too busy checking up on people to see how they are in their day to day life through these horrible times.

Baiting is trolling in itself. Maybe your friend needs to concentrate on the people that take her fancy and make her own judgement of them.

Debating? Can honestly see I've not seen a great deal of that on this thread - plenty of scratched heads trying to understand your point and lots of you talking *AT* people, but that's not debating in my book.

From what I can make out though this thread came about because of a thread in the virus forum where you tried to make a point (possibly a valid one) but using statistics that appeared to have been plucked from thin air, including one suggesting Fab had 2.5 million members, and didn't like that people questioned the validity of those statistics and provided not a shred of evidence to back them up. If that makes people pedantic in your book then it's your prerogative, but I can understand them questioning to be honest.
