"Boo hoo Yes boohoo are one of the reasons they've lost the high street " Ironically they've bought Debenhams out and won't be keeping the stores

"They won't be missed. They had massively overpriced goods compared to online. One of many more to go. The switch has begun some time ago, shopping centres are a thing of the past. Yes sad for the job losses." online doesn't do anything for me. You don't always, get what you pay for. I prefer seeing goods before any buying. There are, too many dodgy online companies selling you copies and fakes. If they are cheaper than the shops then Theres a good reason for it.maybe there are too many shops around with the retailers being too greedy.. I worked in retail and I always said there was only a certain amount of money out there to spend so too many shops sprouting up here, there and everywhere with the retail companies being too greedy would lead to their demise. Online shopping means more card spending and bigger credit card bills

"I went shopping at my local M&S the week before Christmas. Debenhams is on the same retail park.... Every other shop opened early 8am ish... except Debenhams..... who stuck to their 10am routine. I saw a lot of people walk away from their doors disappointed, myself included. It just hasn’t moved with the times, even before COVID! " Exactly it was going to the dogs a long time before Covid

Yes sad for the job losses." I'll miss them and sure many others will. Online shopping has it's place but you can't beat the tactical experience of picking something up and feeling it, looking at it and trying it on. Not ordering something and it's the wrong fit and all the faff of returning it. Plus and this is with some sarcasm. We are going to miss out on the great British sale's person who are always happy to help! I feel for the staff who have lost their jobs. I do genuinely believe that at some point in the future there will be a bounce back and people will want to go shopping again and store's such as Debenhams will return .

" I might be one of the few but I really don’t like online shopping at all. I like going and browsing the rails looking at the clothes and trying them on. I enjoy going to ‘town’ or the shopping centre when I want new clothes. I do hope there is a bounce back of stores one day sad to see them going! " Speaking as a ‘woman’ ... I have soooo missed a lovely day mooching round the shops, and enjoying a day out in the shops, one of things I love as Rachel .... funnily enough, as a bloke, I hate the same thing and get everything online .... must be a female thing m R xx

"I see it announced that Debenhams is disappearing from the High St for good. A shop I have fond memories of on my ‘journey’. I remember well the well stocked Hosiery Dept with loads of different brands and styles of stockings ... including the gorgeous Aristoc Harmony FF stockings. Their lingerie dept had every kind of elegant and classic lingerie. I loved to peruse through there The Make Up counters were great, and have always loved the non- judgemental amazing ladies who have helped ... and sold me loads of stuff over the years!! R xxx " Are there other shops with make up counters? It's things like that that make me sad. X

"I liked their carrier bags. They had rainbows on them long before it was cool. I think they probably failed because they were kind before their time. " I’ve just realised, that was actually c&a that had the rainbow on their bags.

"Sad to see them close and all the job losses. Mike Ashley offered to buy them but the board were too stubborn and went with a venture capital firm that asset striped it and ran into the ground. " And Mike Ashley wouldn’t have done that??? He’s just a modern reincarnation of Phillip Green.

Not sure what his intention was but fairly sure he wouldn't have spent millions on building up a large stake in Debenhams just to fold it.
