Do you suffer - I did. At pone point I would spend all my free time downloading porn, but rarely watching it.

Have you tried to find help? Nothing official like a therapist.

Have you found help? If so Where? Myself. I do not like feeling beholden to anything. Once I read up on nofap I recognised similar behaviour patterns and set out to change myself.

Did it work? Yes. I rarely watch porn anymore outside of any images or videos I take. I am slowly deleting all the stuff I have collected.

Exactly and now they have to remind you to "stop" when it's not fun. They are creating addicts but gambling addiction is pretty easy to get help with.

Thank you, a nice answer. This is the issue... Porn turns people into addicts (or at least facilitates their behaviour and encourages it). Then when they are hooked there are few options for treatment that don't involve them parting with considerable cash. It's seen as Taboo and no widely available "free" support is available. Therapists do seem to be cashing in on it at the "victim's" expense. The porn industry should be doing more to help those with genuine problems and should be held to account by government who are apparently unaware of what is a massive social problem simmering away, ready to boil over in my view. The figures for sex/porn exposure and addiction are frightening.

I actually questioned myself over the last year or two regarding if I had a porn addiction or not, I did worry it was abnormal, it wasn't costing me any money or harming me apart from some occasional chaffing problems but then I discovered fab swingers and stopped watching porn. Trouble is I'm now think I'm obsessed with this site and open to a new addiction, I'm easily led.

It's not a problem I personally have. However, compulsions, obsessive, repetitive behaviour usually have underlying psychological causes such as anxiety. Anxiety is something I have a lot of experience with. I've had therapy and I have a lot more coping mechanisms for dealing with self destructive behaviour.

I have to be 18 to go into a betting shop. Cigarettes are kept in a plain display out of reach. Yet, any 12 year old can start getting addicted to porn on any device, far too freely available and totally uncontrolled considering the potential for psychological and physical damage maybe?

I didn't say *just* needs to sort their head out. But yes, any addictive or compulsive issue will have a psychological element which needs to be examined. (Personally I suspect the health issues from physical dependency would be worse, as well...)

I'm aware young children are exposed to pornography. I'm saying that's an issue that needs to be addressed to prevent issues later on.

I don't think porn or gambling creates addicts. Some people might just be susceptible to becoming addicted.

Physical addiction to alcohol, nicotine or heroin (other 'street drugs' are available) is different. I am addicticted to nicotine (vaper) and will always be.

I can get addicted to just about anything and have to monitor my behaviour and give myself small rules to control my behaviour.

I remember when my son was 14 he’s now a young adult and I got called into the school as him and his friends had been Googling blue waffle on the school iPads .I had to come home and google it myself as I could hardly punish him without knowing what blue waffle was .

Not sure if I'm addicted but I do watch porno most days... But I also watch Netflix and Amazon Prime. Depends on my mood.

I could go a week without TV easily (even when i have nothing else to do). Try not viewing any porn, or thinking about porn, or having a wank for a week, see of it's easy, even when you have nothing else to do?

14 year olds now Know more about sex than my biology teacher did in 1977!

What i'm talking about is levels of chemicals in the brain created when stimulated by porn. The more you look at it, the higher the level of those chemicals and the longer they are present. The brain loves them, they make you feel wonderful, so to keep the level of those chemicals high, you do what creates them...look at porn. It becomes a cycle that you then don't want to or can't break.

Addiction is your body craving that feeling and doing what feeds it. Porn is no different to smoking, drinking, drugs etc. They create chemical induced feelings the same way that looking at porn and "entertaining" yourself does. Before you know it, it's habitual and you're hooked.

Personally I find I watch more porn during the present restrictions whereas when our libertine life is in full swing, meeting old and new friends every week I won't search for it.

It 100% is addictive despite what the experts say. It’s like drink or drugs , most people can use without issues but if you watch enough of it you’ll get hooked in.

I watched a lot when I was younger and which I partly blame on anxiety issues at the time. I forced myself to stop watching but it wasn’t easy.

And I do think it’s a rotten industry on the whole so don’t like to support it. I’d say most girls who do it really regret it down the line.

I've since realised that I had an addiction to orgasms at quite a young age... I'd go 6+ times a day but always had to watch porn to get off.

I don't remember really doing anything to stop, it was like I just grew out of that need.

Like any addiction there is the potential to reverse the effects, but you need to give it up and steer clear of it.

Porn addiction and its negative effects are completely different to the unrealistic expectations that some people feel porn puts upon them.

The people that get addicted to porn are usually well aware its fantasy, however it is a means to an end, and that end is the reward centres of the brain flooding the body with dopamine and other feel good hormones.

Yeah. Set up a block on your internet and don’t wank for a few weeks- months and you’ll be sorted. Do something else addictive but good for you eg gym or reading.

Also be prepared to fall off the wagon a few times but don’t get too angry about it.

It will be interesting to see how it’s affected people who are about 20 and under and have had quick access to hardcore porn since puberty. A lot of the free content is v degrading and all from a mans pov. Scary thought if they think that’s how all sex is.

Gone are the days of maybe seeing topless darts on live tv!

Addiction is a behaviour that creates negative consequences in your life...

It is always linked to an unresloved pshycological "trauma" normally originating from childhood.

If it's affordable I would always recommend a few sessions with a professional psychological therapist.

Russel Brand speaks well about the addictive mind worth looking up his chats.

Learning about how your emotions drive your behaviour is key.

It is not the porn or alcohol or drugs it's the unhealed mind that sources comfort.

Hubby was addicted to porn, made the effort this year to make sure i interrupted and gave him something to take his mind off it

So far so good and the extra couple of sessions a day is fun ??
