Bike Tools

Anyone into bikes, my son has a collection of pit bikes (hes almost 13) and for his birthday Id like to get him some decent tools, planning on spending between 75 to 100, any bikers who are good at the mechanics offer me advice?

I may even get time for a decent shag if he can keep the bikes fixed himself rather than spending half my life at the local bike shop

Go to a decent bike shop and see what they have.

Avoid the huge kit of tools for 4.99 as most of them will be crap and will bend, break or damage the bikes

Keep an eye on your local Lidl, as they do special offers on bike tools and kit.

I got a great workstand for £30, they're normally £100.

Thank to you both, thats why I want to spend decent money so they will be good for him and the bikes and have been looking in lidls but his birthdays on sat so running out of time.

dunno whether they would be any good, but a general mechanics kit wouldnt be too far wrong.

the halfords pro kits are great value (and for 100 notes you get a very good kit, and they are sometimes on sale so can be had for even less) and they come with a LIFETIME WARRANTY. just need to keep the receipt and if something breaks they will replace it like for like.

First thing to buy is a couple of books for basic bike mechanics and a simple tool kit.

Have to agree - never had any issues with Halfords tools, lots cheaper than snap on and they sell unusual stuff such as IMPERIAL spanners (essential for my Harley) If he does a lot of work on the pit bikes and has a garage he might want to think about a bike lift, removes terminal back pain and speeds the job up considerably - less washing for you as well as he won't be lying on the floor getting filthy!! Ebay is a good place to pick these up.
