Do you remember when squash only came in two flavours, orange or lemon?

There was Ribena of course, but we only got to try that at our posh aunty's house (she had Imperial Leather too).

Or Robinsons Barley Water if you were a pensioner.I always felt like I had to sieve that through my teeth.

Ah, simpler times

Happy Days! But my posh auntie is tight and made her Ribena so weak it was like drinking coloured water.

Did anyone else have those drinks in tall, slim plastic bottles where you had to twist the top off? They were pink or orange.

Bizarrely, despite being allowed soda we were not allowed to mix it with and squash style liquid.

So Vimto with lemonade was considered a step too far

Cream Soda with a scoop of ice cream in it! A real treat! And dandelion and burdock or limeade or cherryade. 1 litre glass bottles, you could hear the van rattling along the road before it stopped and all the rich families would rush out.

Ahh.. memories.

Orange, Ribena, and Lemon & Barley Water were the only possibilities. Used to get orange squash in a gallon container from Makro.

And Schofield”s or R Whites Lemonade, Cream Soda, Dandelion & Burdock and Sasperilla

And of course Milk and the Humphries

I wasn't allowed squash or fizzy pop unless it was a birthday, when were also allowed sausage rolls and French fancies instead of one of the many lentil based dishes my mother normally provided. We were the 'weird kids'

By teenage Coca Cola was on the scene. So much so that my cousin needed his stomach lining replacing because he had burnt it away drinking it. He went through crates of the stuff.
