I used to thing admitting to being wrong was weak, but actually as I’ve got older (grown up maybe?) I think it shows really strength and actually earns respect

I'm probably already apologising before I need to, it's a bit of a habit of mine.

So yes, if I'm in the wrong and it's clear I am, I will. Sometimes apologising is more about making me feel better than the recipient of it though and I think that's true for a fair few apologies.

When I’m wrong I have to admit it and need forgiveness so I can put it behind me. Sometimes I may not realise I was wrong at the time but if/ when it dawns on me I’m not too proud to admit Iv been a cunt

Have to own it. It’s the vest way and usually leads to a resolution.

Maybe not the one you want but much better than trying to pass the blame or be defensive. Not always the easy path though and I’ve certainly lost a job because of it before

On a serious note, yeah. I'm an overthinker anyway so it kinda goes hand it hand.

Sometimes I admit I ain't realised someone has taken something I've said the wrong way or I have been thoughtless, sometimes the overthinker side of me asks questions that I have no right to ask really and I overstep the mark. I'd rather they told me so I can put it right. I forget that not everyone is as open as I am.

Stubborn is never fun

I don’t think being stubborn is necessarily about not admitting you’re wrong, although it can be.

It can also mean being determined to get something done, or not giving up easily. Stubborn people can be hard work but can also make a very positive contribution, in my experience.

Work is another interesting one, you're right.

There can be a whole load of shady dynamics that go on in some workplaces, and sometimes in my experience it doesn't pay to be too open and honest,sadly.

That's kind of the mentality of a few though isn't it? I think we can be so focused on our truth and us being right that we lose sight of others having their truths and sometimes we're the villain in their story. I know I have in the past but now I'm at a point where I can say what I've done wrong and own that, even if it doesn't paint me in the best light.

Fess up and get on with it...at my last job I made a few small mistakes but it would have been a nightmare if I had tried covering it up. Far easier to own up and rectify it. My old boss said I was a dick head at times but at least an honest dick head

If there's absolutely no question I am wrong and it's an objective thing then no question I hold my hand up to it.

Something more subjective and opinion based however, and if I believe in what I am saying then I'm a stubborn bugger and will stick to my guns unless my opinion is changed to believe otherwise.

I (Jason) used to be awful for not admittimg I'm wrong. I always knew best and didn't take criticism well. But rhiannons broken that out if me. She's so supportive and understanding she's helped me be more open to being wrong and learning from it

I think for me personally I've noticed before that I post something assuming everyone knows my sense of humour , and (I admit this) forgetting that people who dont use the forums a lot can misconstrue it for a sarcastic dig .

In a discussion, I rarely assume I'm 100% right

Then again, the chances are you aren't either

So, let's meet in the middle

In terms of cocking up at work, get it out there, most bosses are supportive and will work with you to resolve the situation

I apologise quite readily these days, both in & out of work

Do it in person or by phone though

I rarely feel typed apologies come across as genuine

Take time out and mean it

Back in the day, no never admitted it,young an probably afraid of what punishment I'd get lol as I got older I've no problem admittin when I'm in the wrong..maturity counts for something I guess.. maybe now I like to be punished lol (ms snoop)

I've had to learn to apologise less. I'll always own it if I've messed up, but I used to assume responsibility for other people's fuck-ups too. I'd apologise for basically existing! It was a combination of being taught by tyrannical parents to always be polite and never offend anyone at any cost and feeling a deep discomfort if I thought I'd made a mistake and needing someone to 'forgive' me before moving on, and black-and-white thinking which didn't allow room for more subjective issues and shades of grey.

Fortunately I don't function like that anymore. Yay me

I openly apologise if it’s clearly a mistake of mine, or be upfront and explain my perspective, I think some people can view things negatively / purposeful when it’s not actually as bad or good as they interpret though.

To be stubborn and pretend things haven’t happened is a sign of immaturity in my eyes, generally, or perhaps lack of self awareness. I’m not particularly judgmental though if people make mistakes I suppose, stubborn behaviour mainly create the most difficulties for themselves, I find.
