So basically you mean vegitarian?

I could easily eat vegitarian food for a year. i would struggle on smelling cooked bacon, but that's the only time.

I think I could actually. I think that when I’m thinking about what I eat and meal prepping probably 50/60% of what I eat is vegetarian/vegan so could be done with reasonable adjustments and consideration. I also think the money would be a motivation and after 2 months I’d look and feel a lot better in myself.

The things I’d struggle with are pizza and garlic flatbread

Meat free is much better than meat substitute, and I don’t miss it. I think after the year was up though, I’d be having a steak for breakfast, lunch and dinner

This is a tough one vegetarian yes vegan is a whole other ball game.

Having friends who are vegan it’s a pain you pick a restraint for a night out (in normal times) they ask for the whole low down on the menu and the data sheet to ensure it is vegan.

There are beers wines etc that are not vegan they use something from fish in them to filter it.

Chocolate, cheese, milk the list is endless.

Anyone who thinks being vegan is easy would be in for a shock if they did it properly.

"So basically you mean vegitarian?"

Eh, no there is a very significant difference.

As a vegan, you don not eat or drink any food that was an animal, or contains things derived or sourced from animals. So in addition to no meat, you wouldn't consume, or consume products containing:

Dairy products (milk, cheese, eggs, etc)

Honey

Gelatin, etc.

Before I went vegan, it's that additional list that I felt I'd struggle with. I'd already been reducing meat consumption in my diet. It takes planning, organising and always having your reading glasses in the supermarket, but you soon get into the swing of things.

While I was a dairy monster, I think for a lot of people contemplating a total switch the area they would struggle with the most is alcohol. A huge amount of alcoholic drinks contain things such as rennet, which of course is enzymes sourced from the stomach of ruminant animals.

Eating out is actually one of the easiest things to do. While some chains are better than others, many now have excellent vegan options, and some like Waggamama are moving more of their menu to vegan. While you might struggle at your favourite boutique restaurant interestingly the Michelin Guide have just awarded a star to a vegan restaurant for the first time.

Yes, there are other aspects of life whee the vegan philosophy extends. Clothing is the obvious one. No more leather hot pants for me! I won't be disposing of items that use animal products, but when they reach the end of their usefulness their replacements will be vegan. I'm looking at you, leather satchel, sofas and belt! Oh, and shoes! As some of you will now, I'm a photographer and film uses gelatine in binding the emulsion to the celluloid. To date, no effective alternative has been found. That was enough to take me from 99% digital to 100% digital, and abandon any plans to get into large format photography. There will be areas and times where you cannot avoid animal products, or have them accidentally. Where you miss milk on the ingredients list (it's in unexpected places) or unavoidable (flu vaccines grown in eggs, but that's changing).

My motivation was threefold. For my health, the environment, and animal welfare. Overpopulation means we are at the point where our existing diet and food production methods are no sustainable, and we are absolutely destroying the planet in a race to oblivion. We must change our ways while we still have time.

If people want to know more, then there are three great documentaries "Forks over Knives", "Conspiracy" and "What the Health" worthy of viewing.

I went vegan for several years for love.

My girlfriend was vegan. What’s more, it was ‘raw vegan.’ No cooked food. It was love, it wasn’t that hard.

I have to say, there are some really delicious and imaginative food in the diet.

Not much that I wouldn't do for a ten grand annual kick back, so long the stuff can be frozen, and I could get plenty of it reduced for quck sale last thing at night in the supermarkets. That would then be a double whammy, eat on the cheap, and get paid for it! I'd be thinking that Santa Claus is real!

I try to eat less meat but it's a token measure. The rest of my family don't want even vegetarian options for dinner, let alone vegan.

I believe vegans are correct. We do eat too much meat. But I can't bring myself to give up dairy or meat or eggs

"For £10,000 could you go vegan (food) for a whole year? "

It would be an interesting challenge...

As an omnivorous individual. Cutting a whole section out of my diet would create the cold turkey effect (see what I did there)...

If one got through that

There would be a chance. Slim, but a chance to change and succeed.

"So basically you mean vegitarian?

In the vegan manual it says to ensure car windows are fully closed and not to taste or breath the air... But of course everyone knows that vegans only ride bicycles, so effectively they cannot travel through the likes of Birmingham
