Some men folk have resorted to a new low to gain a response.

I thought it might have been a genuine mistake at first but it's not just me it's happened to and more than the one profile doing it.

The latest trend is no longer "hello stranger remember me?" When you've no idea who they are, now, they're thanking you for the lovely convo on kik and for directing them to your profile on here.

It's not a genuine mistake, it's bullshit to get a response from ya.

I'm not gonna lie, I got freaked out by it thinking someone was targeting me for some kind of revenge or something.

Creeped me out and concerned me.

I don't want anyone getting upset or concerned by it, so putting the shout out just not to respond and block.

"I’ve recently had quite a few random kik messages - I just block "

I don't use kik prickles

That's why it got me on edge, saying they'd spoken to me on kik and thanked me for giving them my fab profile name.

Would be like if someone said they'd seen me on a dating site or something, I'd be thinking someone had stolen my pics etc and got in a panic

They'll say it just to get talking initially. When you suss them out they've already opened convo and now they get through filters unless you block them.

Try to palm it off with "oh my mistake, I'm sorry, anyway what you up to?"

Or something like that

I think they believe that they will get some kind of response and then maybe say something along the line says it was a mistake and see if that then leads to a conversation.

I've had a load of "Hi remember me/hello again" messages in the last few months.

Now I know I'm going a bit senile so initially I was thinking wtf?

But the penny finally dropped due to the sheer number with similar messages, as I just don't chat to randoms and never have. Now realise it's a ruse to try to get me talking/responding.

I will have you know this is a very important question no point in asking you :

“Why is it a toothbrush and not teethbrush?”

“Why does Fred Flinstone drive with his feet, surely its easier to walk than carry a half ton car, barney, wilma, kids and dino?”

“Why does Drake want kiki to love him when he only loves his bed and his mom, he”s sorry!?”

It's not new, that particular sort of gaslighting has been used by some men for generations. It's slightly safer for women when they do it online but face to face it's incredibly scary.

I've had men from here find me on kik as they know I have men blocked and then try to say we've met in the past.

Like fuck have we, I've never met men ever.

They soon shit themselves though when you let them know there are back access ways via kik of getting into their phone an having complete access to all their apps and data and that you will be coming to find them in person at their front door and that they won't have a clue who I am as a guy when I knock.

Why they do it I dont know, imbeciles.

I deleted and restarted my Kik to stop that happening, because don't message me means don't message me.

It IS a form of gaslighting yes!

It's not big, it's not clever, it's NOT "an ice breaker to get talking"

It's lies and trickery and fraudulent.

Well, that's a new one.

Will be interested to see if I get anything similar.

I don't have kik and only use WhatsApp with 2 people I know personally.

Not to mention the fact that I don't meet single men.

Well of course I'd be recognised with my face on here. And distinctive tattoos.

Still doesn't make such messages any less creepy. Ladies without their face pics on here seem to get odd messages too.

Regardless, face on show or not, it's out of order. Expected? Yeah of course. People are brave behind a screen/keyboard

on KIK, you can do random conversations with people.

My (female) friend was telling me what crap she gets off guys so I went on there and identified as female. I said I wanted to speak to a certain location and age range, and wasn't up for sex chat right away.

Fifteen chats, maybe fiver were bots, and only one was a nice lad who accepted he wasn't what I was looking for and said to have a nice day.

The rest were dreadful, abusive and generally nasty.

No wonder these guys can't get anyone to chat to online. Made me feel ill.

Imagine how freaky it would feel having someone telling you it was great talking to you last night on there and thanking you for giving them your fab profile name when you know full well it hasn't happened.

It makes you think someone has been pretending to be you and directing random people to your fab profile. It makes you wonder what has been said. It makes you wonder if you've knocked someone back and they're now on a revenge mission.

Initially it's quite frightening coz you don't know who or why, you wonder if it's someone who may have info about you and possibly give other details out.

Haha I delete and come back to fab quite a bit. I do message people saying remember me but always upload a face pic. They ofc always do because I’m being honest.

I can imagine guys do it for that purpose though. Some gusy really act as if there is some secret method as if once you have a reply the fuck is imminent

Kik is creepy. I had a couple set up a fake profile on there pretending to me and then have a "conversation" between themselves using a pic of mine stolen from here. They then messaged me on here saying someone was pretending to be me on Kik and thought I should know.

I don't have Kik so a couple of friends looked in to it for me and finally discovered what they're are doing. Turns out they thought I was "hot" apparently and wanted to get my attention. The pic they had stolen was on hot pics. They used it like a shopping list and done it to a few women.

This is so freaky! Kik really attracts all sorts because you don’t need a mobile number to join. The perfect app for fake accounts.

That's the whole twisted point, to get attention and communication going. They don't realise the upset it can cause. That you do involve friends trying to find out what the hell is going on. It causes a whole shitstorm ... just to get some fucking attention

Exactly! I was going nuts and then panicking thinking my pics had been plastered all over the place, my friends were using their time to help find out what was going on and trying to calm me down in the process. The whole thing was sick. I managed to find a couple of the other ladies they had done it too through statuses etc and give them details of who was doing it. People are fucked up.

And if you'd not blocked them, that was it, communication line open.

The one that I responded to and I was all "right give me details coz it's bullshit and I'm clearly the target of some revenge or something, heads are gonna roll when I get to the bottom of it" (as I do) well the dude wasn't expecting that and then told me the kik person then gave them a different fab name, then when HE told the kik profile he was gonna call the police they deleted. He wouldn't give me the (imaginary) profile name, which.... you would if that shit really happened to begin with.

Trying to be my saviour when all along they're the creep.
