Just started!

Ran maybe 16 years ago while at school but nothing since I was 18.

Started doing the couch to 5k thing, but we skipped straight to the 3rd week to start, now on week 5

The pacing and strides between a 6'2 man and a 5'2 woman can be slightly out haha

Enjoying it, but starting to get a few aches!

I did before my last two back surgeries, and got yelled at about it when I mentioned it to the neurosurgeon and physio.

I used to love it... aside from the pain in the boobs

When I joined Fab I was running around 50 miles a week... not anymore following a foot injury and lockdowns have really affected my mental health.

still trying to get back into it! I love the way my body looks when I am runni g s lot! I can also eat pretty much what I like, haha

If you do the general rule of thumb is to increase by 10% each week

Take away all the pressure, just run without thinking about distance/pace etc. Start small work back up, run/walk really helps too.

Not really, tells you to do a cool down walk, about it.

I know good ways to warm down, but actually doing them is another matter haha

I see enough runners with their injury's at work, so I'm not overly confident and positive about running haha

Yeah I think that’s the plan. With the Olympic Park, Valentine’s Park and others there are some nice routes and venues where I am and within a reasonable car ride

I used to run a good bit. Then I got cancer in my bones/pelvis & now I have a new right hip. My running days are over, unless I wear out my new hip alot quicker which I dont.

Am I glad I cant run anymore??? Yes & no if I am being honest.

I did, for a few years, till a couple of years ago, due to a knee injury

I did try 'off the cuff' a couple of ParkRuns at the beginning of last year

I didn't think l'd manage 3 mile without stopping, but did so, & was in the '27' bracket!!!!

Since then though, it's been hit & miss

Used to prefer fell-races, & just treated tarmac/ParkRuns as distance/speed work

I started running last year and completed 1000 miles for the year, wasn’t something I was aiming for, but with a month to go I needed 80 miles to do it so I thought I might as well. I love finding new trails to run on, found some really good ones close to home, didn’t even know they were there, I keep running on the road to a bare minimum. Would like to do cross country if things ever start up again.

I did a similar thing although, I did it because I've a heart condition and cycling works better for me.

However, due to lockdown, I'm back to running again as I rarely cycle less than 40 miles which is too far from home.

I see quite a few women out running but they always seem to be running in the opposite direction

Same happened to me, it was dark so I ran a new route sticking to lighted areas, I felt great so I kept adding bits. When I measured it on an app I'd done just over 12.6 miles. Did it again today but added a little bit to make it a half marathon. Quite chuffed as this is only my 10th run in 18 months.

Great advice, it's not as crazy as it seems though as I've been cycling a lot so I have a good level of fitness and I'm going super slow. But you're right, I do need to take care because (as someone has already pointed out) running is fairly high impact.

We're both triathletes so generally run 3 or 4 times a week, anything from 7km up to around 10 or 11 miles. Usually do a half marathon a month. Hate doing longer runs but have to reach deep when doing Ironman.

A lateral meniscal tear but they also found grade 4 arthritis to the knee cap... only had surgery in December so really trying with physio but the consultant is strongly discouraging me from restarting again

I really admire the hell out of people with the motivation to run.

I wish I had it but I just find it so boring and stick to HIIT or other means of cardio. However, I think there's definitely more if an achievement to running a long distance than doing a HIIT workout

Pre COVID I was a park runner each week improving on my time and getting close to a sub 20. Last March I developed a cough which won’t go away so don’t think I could run for 5 minutes now . When it warms up I shall try again.

Operated on twice last year for tears to both knees, from 30 years of running. Hang in there I promise you it will improve. I've lost speed and can only run four times a week. My consultant is a runner and took a very different view to your expert by the sound of it. Good luck!

Yes, I participated in a virtual ultra last month. I completed the Spine Challenge ... 268 miles, 7190m of ascent.

Physically my legs were strong throughout but emotionally it was tiring due to commitment and working. Thrilled to have achieved it.

Not really to be honest. I love the race day atmosphere, people cheering, shouting your name etc. Think the virtual would just be like a long training run. Fair play to those who do though.

I love running. It's such an achievement and it gives such a fulfilment when you completed it. Have to run outside though as I don't think I can stand running on treadmills.

So far I've reach my target of running 10k under 50 mins.. trying to aim for a much better time but its a slow process at the moment

I’m currently in training to try and run a sub 17:30 5k, did 6 x 800m intervals yesterday at goal pace with 2 mins recovery, I’m still a way off cause it was hard enough with the recoveries. I need to find my max heart rate so I can find my heart rate zones properly cause I think I train too much in zone 3, which is often referred to as junk miles. If your eyes glazed over reading this I can only apologise.

I have tried to keep running throughout lockdown but a bout of Covid took that away for a while. I am slower now but back to 5k lunch runs. Hopefully the body shape will return before clubs open.

Ran London Marathon in 2013 and Liverpool as well. Quite a few half and plenty of 5-10k fun runs and races. Looking to do a Marathon again but probably leave it till next year now.

In about an hour I’m going out to do a 5k run, as I’ve just started again after a year off.

Ha ha, I’m always procrastinating when it comes to running or the gym. I enjoy it once I’m doing it but just the thought of it gives me shivers

I put myself off anything if I think about it long enough! I really do enjoying going but getting there that first time back is a killer!

A tip someone taught me, put your running or gym gear on in the morning when you get up. It’s one less barrier when you decide to go!

Been running for a few years mostly 5k, 1/2 marathon and some fell / peak runs. Don’t like the full marathon

I've been running since i was 7 years old now pushing 60 (next month) cross country 1500m, half marathons, marathons 10 milers, fell running. I've been having a bit of joint trouble for a while now so keeping off the roads, mainly grass and sand when possible. I still enjoy running today as i did 53 years ago.

Richmond Upon Thames

1500m was a favourite my best time was 4min 8 seconds Berlin Olympic stadium in 1979. 10 miles under an hour 1/2 marathon 1hr 12 minutes. I was a bit of a flying machine.

Just been for a run, mile intervals, got home the water is switch off cause they’re mending a burst pipe, so I can’t have a shower or get a drink.

Went for a run on Friday, thought I'd try a new route but I got lost, had planned on doing 12 miles, ended up doing 16. Nice run though but I felt quite tired afterwards.
