Has any girls here tried the laser removal machines at home? Do they work decently or? I’ve seen a few YouTube vids talking about it some saying they are great, but can’t trust totally some of the youtubers who got sponsored by Philips or whatever x

Ripping my hair out with using the razor and getting a few razor bumps

I have tried the Veet sensitive and it’s a bit better shaving cream, sometimes tho to be quicker I shave and that usually comes back to haunt me

Yes that’s my point I’m kind of not too happy to waste £300 if it works bad or no difference

Lockdown isn’t helping as wanted to restart sessions with the professional laser treatment I think those go deeper in root than the ones at home

I had a Philips one, didn’t work for me. I’m a natural blonde and apparently it works better on dark hair.

I tried an epilator once,45 minutes of self inflicted torture,it went straight in the bin after that.

Go for an epilator instead or try sugar waxing.

Same here, even after a bottle of wine the pain was unbearable

I've bought a small cheaper one to try on my chin. The joys of getting older. Haven't had the nerve to try it yet.

I heard this tho also need to have a certain type of skin because it sort of finds the contrast and beams the hair ... or something like this lol

On the IPL devices, I had the Smooth skin bare, it reduced hair just a little and didn’t last very long before breaking, common fault I believe and the customer service isn’t the best.

Last spring I thought I’d try the Braun Silk expert pro 5. Advises to use weekly for 12 weeks then every 1-2 months, I continued weekly past the 12 weeks and noticed hair reduction and completely hair free in places, it seemed to work better in my bikini area and under arms than legs although I do get fed up going up and down the legs with it so maybe not zapped as good as the smaller areas.

It is a lot of money to fork out if it doesn’t work for you as it does work better on certain skin tones and hair colour I believe, which maybe true as my underarms and bikini maybe not as tanned as my legs when I was using it and hair on legs is lighter.

It would also be difficult for me to say if the reduction was all down to the machine as I suffered pcos but my last scan was showing clear so could be a combination of the two.

If it’s just a smoother finish after shaving with no razor bumps then perhaps try rubbing Ameliorate smoothing body exfoliant into dry skin before jumping in the bath, then try shaving with boots no 7 men’s sensitive shaving gel and a sensitive razor, blast of cold water to finish and don’t wear tight fitting clothing (eg leggings) for a few hours, hopefully this would have you smooth as a baby’s bum in no time

Forgot to say, you also need to shave before using the device.

This. It works well on dark hair. On blonde hair it doesn't work.

Thanks for the detailed opinion!! Yes I’m kind of thinking it could be an experiment that doesn’t work , my skin is somewhat olive/or the darker white you can get but my hair is dark brown so that could work

I’ll have to have a think! Thanks for the tips on the shaving part, honestly I’ve been so stressed as my skin tends to develop a few red dots due to the hair maybe trapped or something. Been frustrating!!

Your welcome, it is an expensive experiment/risk that’s for sure.

Maybe try the exfoliation routine for a while as this will allow the underlying hairs a better chance to pop out and so not aggravate the skin and perhaps try to leave longer between shaving, hopefully this will fix it for you.
