Thin, normal or curvy

On a break at work. After discussing with another nurse about the patients we have been moving, lifting and caring for.

We got into body shapes.

And whilst every human have their merits we all have certain criteria we don’t find AS attractive. What’s yours.

We have a great mutual friend. She is very sexy. But says she suffers because she is too thin. Yes she is a stick. Would love some curves.

Is it wrong that we judge.

But we will. And do.

If you had the choice of thin or curvy which would you pick. And why. ?

As a general rule I would say curvy. I do like a lady that's got shape and curves. However, I've also seen plenty of women who have very little shape but are stunning still. I think a person's shape needs to suit how they look, if that makes sense.

There will always be people who find faults with your body shape, sure everyone has preferences, but we need to be careful when labelling people. Getting people to choose a body type only makes the ones not chosen feel worse. It is wrong to judge and I have never understood how people comment so openly about other people's weight. We are all different shapes, sizes and should embrace that.

It has to go to the waist to hip ratio.

Females tend to have lower waist:hip ratio due to wider hip in relation to their waist.

For men, the ratio then to be higher but still less than 1.

.

Waist to hip ratio is helpful to assess health, complimenting BMI (not accurate). skin thickness etc.

.

Whenever someone says curvy, personally, my mind will go back to the ratio : regardless of their body (dress) size.

I've never judged any female on body shape in my lifetime.

When a younger man I had fun with females of all shapes and sizes.

A females attitude and confidence makes their body shape or size completely irrelevant to me.

I think it's fair to say that anyone's body shape doesn't matter, what does matter is everyone's health. If a person's healthy then it really doesn't matter what shape they are. I used to play american football with a guy that was 30 stone, but he was fit as fiddle and marathons.

Had he been that size and it was having a negative impact on his health, then obviously it would be an issue.

Be healthy, be happy. Live life.

Its not wrong to judge, we are only confirming our preferences after all. It's whether you chose to deliver those judgements to a person that is the step everyone should ask themselves first before opening their mouths.

In answer to your question I've not got a preferred body shape I am attracted to, all of my playmates are a variety of shapes and sizes.

I think first and foremost, personality and the mind is the biggest attraction, closely followed by good hygiene and looking after ones self. and the way a person carries themselves. Wether they be slim, curvy, or large is irrelevant.

One persons imperfections is another’s attraction don’t you think?

So no one reading this thread should feel bad about there body type. We are all beautiful in our own way and attractive to lots of people.

"Is it wrong that we judge.

If you had the choice of thin or curvy which would you pick. And why. ?"

It's not wrong, we all judge people on a daily basis based on our personal preference, from music to fashion to the food they like. If judging wasn't so popular gossip magazines, tabloids, opinion shows and bear bating ones like Jeremy Kyle or Jerry Springer would be a thing of the past.

The issue is do you treat them differently because of the choices they make that differ to your own?

Personally, we have no preference in body shape or size. Being bigger anyway we are not going to be hypocritical. We find people attractive on a number of points, attitude being number 1. It then comes down to do we share common ground and interests. A person's physicality only comes into it regarding their ability to do the things we want them to do.

It's fine to have a preference, but why do these preference threads always have to shame or talk about people in a negative light?

Why call someone a stick because they are slim? How is stick a pleasant word to be described as?

Why imply someone isn't normal because they aren't curvy or small?

Damn. I completely understand why people are offended.

For us we can generally find an attraction in most body types, thin is fun for throwing around type play. Moderate is a nice all rounder and as the song says big girls, you are beautiful.

Its rather a shame that attraction to different body types appears to be something that happens only in consideration of female bodies however.

Males are more just a sliding scale from Calvin Klein model downwards. One archetypal body style to rule them all. You either have it or you don't.

"Thin, normal or curvy"

WTF is normal. This implies thin and curvy can't be normal, when they can and are. It puts those body types in the margins and makes them less acceptable.

Thin is normal for my body right now.

Curvy is normal for some.

Fat is normal for some.

Muscly is normal for some.

Etc etc

We all have preferences for our own bodies, and we all have physical qualities we're attracted to in others.

None of them are more or less worthy. None are inherently normal or abnormal. They just are.

Each individual will have their own words to use for their body and how they perceive it, and we should respect and use those as appropriate, but it is not for anyone to make that decision for another or to use a description that implies judgment or value.

Respect other peoples preferences - the fake outrage is so boring.
