I have butter and either Marmite or Marmalade on mine.

The dogs have butter.

I think it's maybe down to even packaging...if there where 10 it wouldn't pack as neat, I love loads of butter...lush

Yes I agree - and I like the base crispy and the tops lightly grilled. If I have for lunch I prefer no butter and lots of grilled cheese on top after the top is lightly done.

Butter...some more butter then a poached egg on each one with salt and pepper. I do have a bit of trypophobia and anything else covered in holes does make my skin crawl, but my sheer willpower I can overlook it when it comes to crumpets. If you cant fit 9 in your toaster, get another toaster. Or grill them.

I bought a cheap replacement toaster from Wilco and the cradles are too close for crumpets to fit. Grrrr!

I knew that would provoke disgust.

Can’t stand butter on them, I don’t like having pockets of liquid grease squish out when it bite them.

I’m fine with a scrape on toast as it soaks it up.
