According to a source I read , not the guardian, the woman has had previous for this. There were cakes and sweets in both male and female form. Photographs were taken of the women eating them and the photos were circulated. Agree with it or not. She knew. | |||

Certainly whoever ordered and made them, as they should have known it was against the law. Regardless of whether or not you agree with the laws of any country, those are the laws and breaking them comes with consequences. | |||

I'm not so sure that making them is incorrect or unlawful or that the eating of them at a private party would have brought retribution but ffs........ putting pics on social media / when WILL people learn ... At the core of the matter is not the banning of sexuality in the public sphere, it is restricting sexuality that is outside the control of men. If I could, I would have highlighted the second paragraph in bold. Egypt has a unpleasant, and ongoing, history of violence against women, sexual violence against women, 'Honour' killings, female genital mutilation and repression of women's rights. | |||

" No one here is saying that's right in any way. Just that it's stupid to break the law and not expect that being caught doing it is going to have consequences. In my view the law and the history is not right in any way. But if you know that genitalia on cupcakes will be an issue, don't broadcast said cupcakes. | |||

The female chef didn’t broadcast or share any photos. She made these cockcakes for a private male sporting club and the men shared the photos. Then she was arrested. Go figure. | |||

" I wouldn't dispute that they have. It doesn't take away from the fact that she gave them the ammunition. She was arrested for breaking laws. She has not been sexually assaulted ( as far as we can tell ) She hasn't been killed or genitally mutilated. She's out on bail. The idea of what constitutes women's rights is relative to place and time. I am not agreeing with the Egyptian track record. I'm stating a simple fact. She broke the law. This is why she was arrested. | |||
