Why do people feel the need to make a big fuck off spiel when the decide they have had enough of Fab? I don’t get it. If I don’t like a page I just leave. End of. Nae drama. But I see posts and status updates saying they are leaving and I don’t get it? Are they doing it so people will rush to save them from leaving a fucking web site?

Anyone care to explain it to me cos I can’t get my head around it.

The same as when you leave a party or work, etc.

Just to say your goodbyes.

In some cases it is a cry for attention and help in other cases it’s because they want to say goodbye. We all have different ways of dealing with things. You have your way, they have theirs. Perhaps if they felt more understood when they were on here they wouldn’t feel the need to leave.

Maybe because they've made some good friends over the time on here. It can be discouraging suddenly to find out months later someone just went off the horizon.

What I don't understand is those that feel the need to complain about the way others use fab. Surely if it is of no concern of yours then why feel the need to say something that has no bearing whatsoever on you or others like yourself?

Either to say goodbye to friends and people they have spoken to or in some cases for attention in the hope someone will contact them

Sometimes it's just to say goodbye, other times it might just be their way of saying they aren't doing too good. Whatever their reason, they can do so if they wish

Sometimes if it’s someone who’s been on here a while and it’s a nice reason I like to see why etc. I’ve left a few times and just quietly slipped away except for one time when I stupidly impulsively did a ranty thread. I’d taken the abuse and shit for months without retaliating then I finally cracked and let my big girl pants fall down for a few minutes. I regret it and probably made myself look a total twat! Big girl pants have stayed firmly up ever since.

Because they want to??? Some do, some don't. Sometimes it's easier to run a thread to say goodbye to friends than it is to pm everyone individually. Not everyone has outside contact details for their friends on here and it's nice to stay in touch with some if you decide to leave.

Some clearly don't leave after they post a goodbye thread either, because they are still commenting (and trying to boost) the thread a week later. They always seem more of a desperate attempt at attention rather than an actual goodbye.

The ones we see often have some criticism of the site or the users too. Fab isn't for everyone, we get that, but we don't see the need to announce it and have a pop on the way out the door (if they do even use the door).

I think sometimes people just want those who know them to know they are leaving easier than explaining it in multiple messages ... other times I’ve read those threads and it’s almost like a cry for help and ended up staying with people helping them for whatever reason .... you never know what is going on especially now it’s such a crazy time emotions run high!

Some here go a long way back, with deep connections with others - the forum is a reasonable place to notify others and potential avoid any concerns.

Others, just do it to get attention or anyone desperate to contact them, after being here a few minutes. Similarly to moaning posts.

Various reasons. We should leave reviews of them after

There was a dude that started a thread and within his post called women "attention seekers" and "slappers" before he kicked the fab can. The thread gave ppl a right laugh.

There's a certain catharsis in making a bit exit, sometimes.

Better to vent out than to bottle something up, I guess.

I'm sure you can relate to that, OP

I'll say goodbye if/when I leave, kinda feels rude not to if you've made friends here.

When I finally leave, I think I may say goodbye here and not just vanish. It's my choice afterall. I've been here nearly 7 years and chatted to a lot of lovely people, so it would be nice to say bye. I think Op, you should try not to worry about how people choose to say goodbye here, it's no big deal. If you want to leave in a "puff of smoke", then that's your choice.

I also don't see why it upsets people. If people want to say goodbye especially if they use the forums a lot then its nice to see instead of just wondering if someone is okay or not when they leave. Even messages dissappear if you leave so they can't even message to say goodbye .

Of people don't want to read the thread it can always be ignored like everything on here really.

There isn't really a way to win with this. Announce it to say bye and people will slag you, don't and others will think you're rude and get annoyed or worry there's something up. The only solution is we all stay here forever amen...and that's a lot of commitment for a site most come to looking for no commitment

What others have said. Some are genuinely leaving and want to say their goodbyes to friends they have made on here. Others are very clearly doing it for attention.

I ignore such threads. They don't bother me.

See, I don’t get why you would be bothered, I don’t care how people want to leave, it’s up to them, I allow myself a smirk when they make a big scene and they’re back commenting on the forums in a fortnight, but it’s soon forgotten about. Slip out the back door, or go out singing and dancing, it really doesn’t matter. It’s just funny when it annoys people.

Depends how well you interacted on here I suppose and if you thought you'd made friends, its always nice to know they've gone to a good place rather than just vanish I did first time round, but have just slipped away subsequent times, I pretty much know Im coming back at some point.

I dont necessarily think its a "Look at me post" but more an opportunity, a platform even to share and vent their frustrations.

We all have different expectations and I think the reality for some just doesn't materialise into what they hoped.

Some people leave quietly but others need to vent their frustration which i think helps to justify their decision.

I dont mind it to be perfectly honest. After all, we are all different and I like hearing about other peoples problems. The garden doesn't always smell of Roses. You sometimes go out and step in dog shit lol
