I've just been on my rower for 300m followed by a 500m sprint.

My lungs are hanging out my mouth.

What are everyone's least favorite excersices?

Ive developed an exercise I call a bastard. Press up using 8kg dumbells into a burpee, once up bicep curl into a shoulder press. 5 sets of 10 with a 30 second rest. Its a bastard

I used to do something similar but would now kill me.

40kg bar (20kg Olympic nd 2x10kg plates)

Squat thrusts x 10 strait into 10 pressups.

Set a repeat timer for every 3 minutes. Any spare time is a rest.

Repeat til failure.

Shoulders would scream after 3 sets.

I struggle with lunges for some reason especially when up to like 20reps each leg with dumbbells, my balance seems to go before anything else, any tips would be cool : )

If balance is going I'd possibly reduce weight.

Or maybe focus on core and reduce reps?

Lunges are just awful generally though!

Thanks! Depends on which way you're going, I'd recommend reverse lunges to start with as I think it requires less core strength and less impact on your knees which may help your balance.

Like the OP said too, weight could also be an issue so perhaps start at a lower weight and build up

Any form of sprint/interval training. Even worse running up hills, I hate it so much I plan my route so it’s as flat as possible.

Instead of going totally straight, step outwards a little bit. If you're already doing that then maybe try pulse lunges until you develop the endurance not to get as wobbly.

Before lockdown I (Luke) had a weights program I was doing at the gym which was doing me a lot of good.

The one I always disliked was squats. I just found the position and the motion really uncomfortable. Other exercises took a lot of effort but nothing felt at awkward as squats.

One thing I would say is a great exercise for lockdown is a weighted backpack while out walking.

Doesn't have to be much but it will work a lot of muscle groups.

Great for traps and back. Works all your legs.

If there are hills it will hit your CV.

Sounds like a good workout but I think a lot forget that too much leads to horrendous DOMS (not a Dom!) a couple days later. Little and often get the muscles used to the effort and keeps you motivated.

Exactly. I consider myself relatively fit and healthy but when I started exercising again I literally did 5 pressups and situps and a couple pull ups. I could feel them the following day but it didn't prevent me from doing it again.

Getting into a routine is by far the hardest part of exercise and you should go slow.

Not me, but watching my eldest (aged 10) at his black belt pre-grading. After 2 and a half hours of drills and patterns, he had to fight every single other member of the club one after the other, adults and children, varying levels, and was marked on how he adjusted his power and technique to suit the ability of his opponent. 13mins of non stop sparring and he almost had to crawl off afterwards

Jogging was always my worst because I just found it boring and I could never get past the always gasping for air bit that everyone says you eventually get past. Even with music it was just a chore.

Now walking, walking I can do for miles (with toilet breaks).

I've always been confused by the burpee. In some examples, I see them do a press up when they go down but in other examples, they just keep their arms straight. Does it depend on strength or is there a set way to do them?

Anything involving steep hills. Pushing in a manual chair uphill is purely a test of strength. It's impossible to increase the speed or similar like you can on the level (can do long sprints, short sprints, vary the speed etc). However, despite the snail pace, it is very satisfying to look back down the big hill when you reach the top. So, I hate the lack of versatility as an exercise but enjoy the challenge.

Both are correct. There are 2 versions the easy one is keeping your arms straight and that's how I do them if forced to do them but if you want to make it harder do a press up instead
