My brain is in a state of mush.

Woke up this morning to an email from a friend of mine, someone I haven't spoken to in a couple of years, informing me that a mutual friend, a woman I met whilst having chemo, has passed away

Her cancer came back worse and stole her life.

My check up at the breast clinic is overdue...by quite a bit due to covid and was pushed back again a couple of weeks ago.

Tbh, I was already nervous as I always am about it but this news has just fucked with my brain.

My anxiety is bad atm anyway which I know isn't helping but I cannot shake the thought and worry that it's going to be bad news once I do get my check up.

I'm just sad and scared and needed to vent.

Cancer is a cunt...i kid myself that that chapter of my life is over but in reality, will it ever not effect me?

Sorry you have received bad news

It is good (in some respects) that you are conscious of your situation

It means you are more likely to be aware of yourself and your health

Many of us blithely exist, passing of aches & pains as 'just this' or 'just that', often until it is too late

I've lost two good friends that way x

I had a brain tumour in 09 I’ve just come to my 10 year sign off from the hospitals meaning no more check ups and scans and things

I think cancer will always be a part of my future as it changed my life so much

Lu, so sorry to hear this, and yes cancer is a cruel killer. Hopefully you can get your check up soon and your mind can be put to rest again for a while. On a positive note someone very close to me is now coming up to 13 years cancer free, since her breast cancer treatment. Wishing you all the very best x

So sorry to hear this Lu cancer really is a cunt and I don't think the fear of it returning ever leaves you. I would keep pushing for your appointment explain to them the situation and how it's adversely affecting your MH. Big hugs to you lovely lady xx
