First off, I love this country, just not some of the people in it!!

Walking back from town this afternoon, a woman carrying shopping bags & drinking a Macdonald milkshake was ahead of me. She decided she had had enough of the milkshake so bent down and left the container in the middle of the pavement.

As I approach it, I gave it a kick in her direction, she turns round but no look of embarrassment - even my remark 'I think you dropped something' has no effect!

Now I know I could have challenged her further - but perhaps the fear of a 'sperm donor' of a partner, accompanied by Tyson / Brutus, etc the pitbull suddenly appearing, made apathy the more sensible route.

Always feel crappy after situations like this, wishing I had the balls to press the issue more - but fearing the consequences more

Am I alone thinking how difficult is it to put YOUR rubbish in a bin???

looked out from my lodgings when i was working on heathrow airport,car outside with empty mcdonalds cartons on the floor beside it people inside chatting and laughing,it was about midnight and every weekend we used to find all the rubbish from mcdonalds strewn outside our digs so this one night i made my way outside and went round to the drivers side and banged loudly on the roof of the car and the 4 in the car near shit a brick!,i told them i was pig sick of idle cunts like them dropping litter outside my home and making a mess!,told them to pick the rubbish up and take it home with them.

they meekly collected the cartons and rubbish they had thrown out and meekly drove off.

i just cannot understand idle gets like that.

our local library (yes we still have one)has a small garden, albiet full of s, and its just walking distance from the chippy !!!!!!!

I was once out with a large group of punk friends and this BMW was parked with a girl and a guy eating chips etc. She decided she'd had enough and put the whole lot out of the window. Now oneof my mates saw a chance and picked up the whole lot and put it back through the window saying "aww lassie, you've dropped ye chips!" She freaks as she is covered in chips and vinegar/sauce etc. The guy gets out the car and sees 10 ofus with Mohawks and the lots and decides against anything. Jumps back in the car and speads off causing taffic to brake suddenly. Then he gets pulled by police. Literally 200 people cheering the guy and the police.

It'sthe only time justice has been served in the UK.

I agree with your first point that there are some people in this country who fail to make themselves loveable or put in a more adult manner they do not contribute to society in a way in which we approve.

i saw some little chav drop some litter the other week,i had to work so hard not to challenge him.but i knew if he had got cocky i would have lamped him.so i bit my lip

i have given litter back to people before saying you have dropped something.

there was a group 5 lads drinking lager in the park and dropping cans.i was with a mate and we had a right go at them.they didnt know what to say.no one challenges these scum bags nowadays

i have also wet ballistic at some teenagers smashing glass bottles where dog walkers go,again they didnt say much as they are not used to people saying something

my bag is always crammed with wrappers, it's no hardship to keep yer crap till you see a bin, the worst ones are the drivers who just chuck it out the window ffs! is it that hard to keep a bag for rubbish in yer car?

i'm terrible with litter, and woe betide my children if they drop any i make them go back and pick it up and that includes my 4 year old son, i did it the other day with him in front of his friends he was horrified but in essence i really dont care i was always taught to put my rubbish in the bin and the children will do the same i hate the sight of it, but also wont confront anyone over it for fear of the consequences

where i live i would'nt have any windows left there is no respect at all in this part of town and the children are the worst for it, but i will not have any of my four being disrespectful of others living space by dropping litter or with their mouths because i have no qualms in grounding them or showing them up in front of their friends or removing something they love from them (maybe i'm just harsh

I work shifts in a pub, yesterday as always, I cleared the garden area, put ashtrays out, an hour later when I went to clear a table for a couple that had had food, there were 6 cigarette butts on the floor, yet there was an ashtray on their table

In my twenties sitting in my mates car he is eating chips and curry sauce throws the remains out the wind ow and drives 50 yds up the road to get some beer an AOP comes up throws the chips and curry sace in the passenger side slapping it around my head my clothes covered in it too which realy messed up my Saturday night.

The old guy was right in what he did but just wish he had picked the right window.

I cant say Id be the first one with their hand up if someone asked 'have we got any angels here today' but two things I detest is litter and gobbing..where I work we are plagued by both..

We were sat at a table having food outside, next to us a group of regulations chavs, skinny, white, ill looking, hoodies wholly hates (in the summer) gold nikies..you know the type..

All tucking into a wholesome pot noodle and ...then the cheap fags came out and its, puff...gob, puff, gob puff gob...not one with any velocity..just a constant squirt of the white stuff...hanging out of they're mouths settling in circles on the ground.

I asked them, not politely either, 'if you cant smoke without fucking gobbing why dont you give up you dirty little..

Anyway...that got ignored..but unbeknown to me a colleague had already taken up the case and had turned up with a bucket of hot water and disinfectant and slung it on the floor under and around their table..

The smell of hygiene was obviously too much for them and off they trotted...cursing under their breath..

Why do they do it?..because they think they can get away with it unchallenged dont let them.

Hmmmm now im gonna say that im a bit of a 'dropper'. i usualy chuck my fag buts in or at a drain.... In my defence i have always smoked roll ups so my butts are entirely bio degradeable (no filters for me) but ive never been challenged..... I dont drop any other litter......

Someone has recently started walking a dog in the area - it is a large dog of horse size proportions.

I know this because I have never seen as much dog shit in all my life - all of it left in piles on the pavement for all and sundry to step in.

I think I know who it is, but am waiting, just waiting, to catch the dog mid squat so I can see if my suspicions are indeed correct.

If they are then he's gonna be told - well, when he's without the dog he is anyway.

Some little scrote getting unduly verbal I can handle - one armed with a 12 stone mastiff I would think twice about !

It's not though is it? It's for us to deal with, walking through it and having to look at it (and pick it up from our front garden day after day after day).

When I was a kid, if I misbehaved or threw rubbish or did anything antisocial, there was an adult around somewhere who would happlily tell me right from wrong.

Just "minding your own business" is why no one has any manners anymore.

I don't presume anything georgey, I simply mind my own business and let others mind theirs. How many dad's have been beaten to death for daring to venture outside to quell a bunch of rowdy youths only for them to turn on him. I wouldn't risk a confrontation over a piece of litter as it's such a stupid little thing in the big grand scheme of things.

It's a costly little thing in the grand scheme of things. Ask your local authority how much of your council tax is spent on litter or clearing chewing gum. The Highways Agency also spends a fortune on litter picking.

a lot of the bins disappeared around the same time that westminster council brought in £80 on the spot fines for dropping litter

funny that innit?

Addison Lee the private taxi firm provides 19,000 free 'adbins' bearing its logo outside businesses across the capital.

But a judge decided that 21 of the bins in Westminster were in violation of planning laws, fining Addison Lee and making it pay £20,000 in costs.

Quite often I go out in the morning and find someone's dumped their kebab wrapper on my front wall, or a beer can caually tossed onto our front patio area, so I just pick it up and put it in the bin. What good will it do me to rant and rave about it? To whom? And will anyone actually give a shit? The police won't do anything about it, and neither will the council. And I'm not going to risk my life confronting someone who may well just decide to give me a good kicking for my troubles. Over a friggin kebab wrapper! No thanks. I'll clean up my own few square metres of turf and let others worrying about cleaning up theirs.

They weren't bins they were illegally placed advertising hoards that could be used as ashtrays.

Typical addison lee, trying to get round laws that they think shouldn't apply to them.

I thought the bins were removed from the centre of London as they were a security risk. They were removed from the square mile after the Bishopsgate bomb in 1993 and lots more were removed from outside or near tube stations after 7/7.

Businesses can request the free bins for use by their employees and customers.Westminster don't want them there but they'll take the coca cola sponsored ones. going to court to remove ashtrays while fining people who put cigarettes in the street is a money earner for them obviously. on top of planning to make it illegal to sleep in the streets of westminster and trying to ban soup kitchens. they're a joke.not to mantion their social cleansing policy

It should be illegal to sleep on the streets anywhere in the world, not just in London. Actually, it should be immoral to allow it to happen in the first place. How is it that in the 21st century a plan cannot be adopted to ensure that every single person at least has a bed for the night?

And so there should be. But then local authorities are accused of housing illegal immigrants and not using the money for local people.

Lots of London Boroughs are doing their best stop rough sleeping, which has increased in the last two years, by making it harder for people. Not by creating more hostel beds. It was also an Olympic priority for the London Boroughs, along with the Olympic grants for creating a green planted corridor for the Games.

In my borough they have removed some hedges and other planting as people were bedding down there when it was snowing. The irony of the fact that the planting had only really matured the year before after a lot of investment in making the area look better and there are now ad hoc patrols, at I don't what cost but possibly paid for out of the 'savings' made in Parks and Gardens, to move people on seems lost on them.

There's still rubbish everywhere. Walking through Hyde Park last week on a lovely sunny day. Piles of rubbish left behind by morons made the place look like shit. Sometimes the people of this world really disgust me.
