..i bought an ex minibus ...an iveco daily 4tonne ..its 7m long so a pretty big van ..its no longer a mini bus and only has 2 seats ..is it worth downplating for mot purposes ..or for any other reasons

Definitely.

Just remember you’ll only have space for one passenger now though.

That's fine..I don't carry passengers anyway..its a mobile playroom/camper now..

Basicly yes...tho as there's lotsa silly new rules about doing that I was just wanting to get weight down...as its lost lots more than I've added...I would imagine... Guess I should actually get it weighed at some point...the 17 seats were really heavy so...

It was a 17 seater ..now just has 2 inc driver...don't really know just trying to get costs down and to do whatever makes my life easier...

Down plating ( re-plating to a new class) will certainly save you on your mot.

It’ll still potentially be a class 7 - but not the end of the world.

Might be worth a call to the DVSA to get advice?

If you are converting to a camper as far as I remember( I haven't checked the regs for long time) if the vehicle has a sink and sleeping provision it can go into class 4 normal car class, but one thing you have to remember you may have to hunt around to find an mot station who can take weight/length

do you hold a licence that allows you to drive vehicles over 3500kg is the first question..

downplaying will save you money on tax, but I would wait until any conversion if being done and then weigh it to be sure

8 seats is a people carrier and 9 seats and more is a mini bus. Your insurance shoots through the roof once you are classed as a mini bus

Apparently tester has to test based on whats presented to them so if it looks and smells like a camper it’s tested as the relevant class, having those various features can get a vehicle reclassified as a camper as long as it’s on the list of vehicle types that can be re-classified.

Few changes as you say, sleeping, cooking, fixed table, campervan like external markings...
