Me too - thickly sliced with good semi salted butter and sometimes with melted cheese or marmite or lemon and lime marmalade.

.

Sourdough with sliced avocado and a poached egg.

Multiseeded with a mix of at least three cheeses (one of which has to be raclette or taleggio, along those lines).

Multiseeded with plum jam but I can't remember what it's called... it might be plum butter? Whatever it is, it came in an epic food hamper from a goddess and is amazing.

When you put the cheese on do you grate or put chunks on and over lap, like you’re turfing a lawn ?!

When you open an avocado it’s always the same toy inside.

Ashford and dept16

Walnut sourdough, make a belchamel sauce, spread salted butter and dijon mustard on the toasted bread then place oak smoked ham then the belchamel sauce, cover with grated gruyere pinch of ceyenne and grill till bubbling.

Perfect light lunch with very chilled a glass of good Rose.

I wouldn't, typically, consider a walnut sourdough but look what happened with apples in the Garden of Eden.

It sounds delicious so walnut sourdough is on the shopping list.

"Granary bread with blackcurrant jam. "

Blackcurrant jam is seriously underrated. My grandmother used to grow black currant bushes in her garden and I loved her jams.

I've planted assorted fruit bushes in my own garden. A sort of homage.

This is a very interesting thread.

The consensus appears to heading toward the less than mainstream sourdough loaf and decent butter.

Wirral.

Firstly, I have to say I HATE butter, marg, or anything pertaining to be such.

It's just like cows' mucus.

Now we've got that out the way, I'd say Hovis seeded batch. Thick & nutty. With honey, apricot jam or Cathedral City. Yes please

"When you put the cheese on do you grate or put chunks on and over lap, like you’re turfing a lawn ?!"

Overlapped slices and ensure the crusts are covered too - grating is too much of a faff - has to be good mature cheddar and I don’t butter the bread as it doesn’t need it. If I’m feeling very decadent then I will put some Marmite under the cheese. I always have to share cheese on toast though as it drives my dog potty as she loves it so much.

Current choice is Tesco Finest Oat bread. Goes crunchy on the outside and still fluffy on the inside.

There's a few toppings I like. salted butter and crab pate is the one I'm favouring atm. Also partial to Bramble Jelly and extra mature cheese (at the same time) or classic scrambled egg n smoked salmon
