Been struggling with crippling anxiety/depression/stress the last few years. Been taking sertraline for about two years now and things don't seem to change. Is there anything anyone has done which has helped them?

From what I can tell it seems to be more of a chemical imbalance as apposed to anything wrong with my life or actions.

Change of meds perhaps?

Not everything works for everyone and generally take the edge off so you can get through the day. They'll not have you swinging from chandeliers but will dumb down emotional responses.

I needed counselling alongside the meds to rebuild my confidence from the gutter upwards. Long process and one I still need to revisit at times but really helped.

Mindfulness is a great tool for anxiety.

It's helpful to keep a diary too, but 2 of them - one for venting/ getting out your emotions and the second one keep it positive. Write down something that has made you happy or you are grateful for each day.

Exercise is a big thing for me, really helps to relax and clear the mind. Even going for a walk each day can make a big difference.

Hope that helps and hope your okay

It may sound a bit weird or totally off subject but I recently had this which was not related to any life changes or anything related to my life at that time.

Luckily I found out that it was Vitamin D deficiency I ended up getting treatment to balance it out and since then I keep taking as a daily life supplement. I cannot even explain how much of a change it made! No more meaningless stress/anxiety and depression or low moods

Reading

I'm on Fluoxitine. It helps to a degree. Also do CBT which does help so worth getting a book about it.

In my case, 50 years of undiagnosed adhd was the root cause of the bouts of depression and anxiety that haunted me throughout my adult life.

Only wish I'd worked it out for myself a lot sooner.

I know how you feel OP. I myself am going through the same thing, even to the point of 3 attempted suicide attempts, was reliant on drugs and alcohol to cover the pain and emotions..

I still overthink every single situation in my life and it is horrible but time, friends and getting out and doing things does really help. Ive been sober now since the 2nd of may and can honestly say I've never felt more healthy in my life.

If you need someone to talk with please feel free to send a message, weather it be any questions or just someone to talk to to try and distract yourself from these thoughts

Talk to your doctor about medication. Meditation/ mindfulness/ grounding useful.

I happened onto this recently and really liked it. https://youtu.be/FPH5CFSmYEU (self help techniques for anxiety)

Absolutely!

As a gardener working with nature is particularly cathartic for me. I've always encouraged my customers to be more involved in their garden, pointing out the numerous benefits to health and well being. Mindfulness while ing and the more mundane gardening tasks has helped me be more focused and I believe better equipped to deal with anxiety. Mindfulness in movement is better suited to busy adhd brains

That's a great shout! I totally forgot that I was deficient in vit d and whatever that one is you take when you're preggo. It'll come to me when I'm having a dump most likely.

Firstly, speak to your GP.

You might need a different medication.
