Strange dream...what could it mean?

So, been finding it hard to sleep recently but this morning woke after having a bizarre dream.

Only a short clip remains in my waking memory:

I’m in a pub, sat at a table with a couple of mates (that I have never met before!). I am enjoying a pint.

Bloke with an eye patch comes in and sits on the next table to me. He has a pet chimpanzee!

I try to pet the chimp, and in a playful way he starts to very gently bite my finger. The biting gets harder and more painful and the chimp goes mad.

In the end (I’m sorry to say) I have to smash the chimp against the wall repeatedly in order to release my finger from his teeth.

Waiting for the comment about ‘spanking the monkey’.

Any ideas what this could mean?

Apart from the obvious...insanity.

The chimpanzee is something that you need to deal with. It's nagging away at the back of your mind and you're trying to make it go away by being nice or not dealing with it properly. This will result in you taking drastic action that you might regret. The guy with the eye patch is you not seeing the problem for what it is, the mates you don't recognise represent solutions you haven't looked at yet.

The biting starts off gently. You do not do anything about it at that stage.

It is only when he goes mad and really is hurting you that you retaliate and do something about it.

It says to me that perhaps you are in a situation that isn't good for you. Inwardly you know that is the case, but as it isn't hurting you too much at this point in time, you are hanging in there and waiting to see what happens.
