Is it against forum rules to green arrow someone and negatively comment on every post they make.

I have had someone do this for a while, not if I comment on something, but if I make a thread, they will find some way of putting the thread down or disagreeing with me.

It is quite annoying and have no idea why they are doing it.

Can you report this or is it a "just suck it up, you're on a forum" thing

I don't think there's much ground to punish them unfortunately, it's a public forum after all. I'd just ignore them completely, they're clearly just trying to get a rise out if you.

There and to the left a bit

I think to an extent it's a "suck it up" thing as it is after all an open forum and any qualified member of the site is entitled to comment - that said if it's persistent and obvious that it's being done to stir trouble then a report to admin to take a view wouldn't, in my opinion, be out of order.

Trouble is proving that is the case and suspect the answer may well be along the "open forum" lines

.

I guess you could report it and let admin decide whether it is an issue. It definitely sucks the fun out of posting or starting threads and can be very draining.

.

If it is constant, it can be reported and the mods will look into it.

I have found that there can be a discrepancy between how we perceive something to be posted, compared to how another posts something based on our personal bias - I was reminded of this last night. If it is clear douchery, report it. That's not really fair or on and can be an attempt at pushing you out of the fora.

I guess you can report any posts if they’re against the rules?

Unfortunately, deliberately being a twat isn’t against site rules. If it were we could lose dozens of people, hundreds even. Possibly thousands

Have you tried to message them directly? Call them out & see if you can ask them if they have a specific issue?

If not, it might be worth speaking to admin to see if there’s any support they can offer.

Sounds more like they’re harassing you rather than an issue with the green arrow. But that could be difficult for the mods to do anything about unfortunately.

The plus side to the green arrow for the majority of posters is you can see if that person making a comment is consistent with their argument or point of view. Even if they have an agenda and only seem to be commenting on certain subjects or in your case those contributing to the thread.

My advice contact the mods with your concerns and see if they can help.

Block them if you haven't already.

It's against forum rules to try and bypass a block to get at someone, report her then.

I've had this before myself and it's beyond annoying!

Ultimately it's a childish game that says more about them than you. Don't give them the attention they clearly crave, they'll find better things to do.

But the technique is worth highlighting. It happens, and sunlight is a good disinfectant.

Posting a comment on a thread to share an opinion is hardly the same as stalking someone around the forums and following them onto every thread to comment...

2/3 comments does not a stalker make.

The OPs issue isn't with the person disagreeing it's with them following her around to dig specifically at her.

Hope that's helped you understand a little better

I've had it before now and it can make it feel like you've got no breathing space. Like your "safe place" is being violated. I know that sounds bizarre considering it's an open forum but that's how it felt for me.

If I've blocked someone I don't post on their threads. I think that's the respectable thing to do. I've not realised I've been blocked by others and posted on their threads tho.

Not entirely correct.

It is against forum rules to use the forums to bypass a block ie asking you why they are blocked, if you can unblock them or asking you to mail them.
