Above average, although I don't particularly enjoy cooking and find it stressful if it's for anyone other than myself or my children. I absolutely love eating food that someone else has cooked, it makes me feel all fuzzy and cared for.

Excellent! But very lazy when it comes to it - as in I rarely actually get to cook.

I grew up in a household surrounded by females - you soon learn how to bake & cook real fast. Plus the added effect of a lot of Caribbean _ased dishes.

Can cook pretty much anything really - but baking I try avoid. As I get pissed off & the cake get booted into the field.

I’m pretty good. I’m not a follow the recipe cook, more take an idea from a recipe and concoct my own version that suits my tastes. I have to be careful though to ensure that there is suffice t overlap with others’ tastes if I’m cooking for more than just me. I cook from raw ingredients regularly.

I’d say 8/9..... Pretty good at a small number of things like Mediterranean, especially Italian, Turkish, Lebanese and love Indian food, I make all kinds of breads, dips, salads and during lockdown learned how to cook with red lentils and lamb.

I’m just in the process of deciding to go back to cast iron pans , copper looks awful and stainless steel is rubbish and hate non stick / aluminium surfaces. Would he interested to know what others who cook use and why

I went to a local private school. Will always rember, was 14ish I think, home economics class, where a 2.5 hour lesson was spent showing us how to butter bread correctly and make a pot of tea lmao it turned out some of the kids there were so " privileged " they had never had to butter their own bread before..seriuosly lol

Probably like a 6, I like to try cooking new things but they don't always work out and for some reason I have real issue cooking chicken breast. However my steaks are 10/10.

I'm actually going to try to make two different types of onigiri tonight, one chicken with sriracha mayonnaise and the other with beef cooked in mirin,meso, ginger, etc

I make a tasty chipotle chilli. I add a quality beer instead of stock, then lid on and simmer. Love using a fresh scotch bonnet in curries. Make a decent cheese sauce for tuna pasta. Still burn toast though so 9/10

I rate mine by putting in front of friends and seeing if they raise their eyebrows when they taste it. The direction their eyebrows travel in is a giveaway.

Spend a lot of time reading and researching and ultimately learning over many years easing 4 kids to eat good and well. More challenge than you think to get all 4 to eat good daily food. Everyone is different lol

It depends who I'm cooking for.

I can cook for my tastes, my family, certain friends because I know what we all like.

But I wouldn't be confident to cook for strangers - I'm heavy handed with certain ingredients

Buy yourself a slow cooker - easy peasy to cook casseroles, curries and stews and almost impossible to burn it.

How do you 'wrong' an omelette ?

I always added milk to the mixture

That is a legitimate way to bulk it out and make the eggs go further

I agree, milk does go in omlettes. I am a good cook and always do this and a chef at my old work place did too

My cooking skills are adequate. Have a good appreciation of what goes with what and what a dish needs to pull it together.

Amazed by the adulation heaped on chefs though ... they are making tea! (Or Dinner as the case may be)

20 years as a chef I'd say I'm ok. Down side is my wife is allergic to cooking. She says why marry a chef and cook for yourself?

Only other downside is she is the pickiest, most boring eater alive. No spices, limited veg, limited herbs, basic food only. And it's no fun cooking for one. 2nd best part of our first 6way at home was cooking for everyone first.

Average for a single man. I don't spend a lot of time cooking but can do decent and healthy meals. Microwave steamer recommended. My microwave also has a convection fan function so no need to use the large capacity oven. Also I never do 'instant' meals.

I would say very good. Few years ago. Had brother and friends for Christmas and Boxing day dinners. For several years before . So turkey with trimmings and at least three veg Christmas day. Then Boxing day roast beef and again trimmings with three veg. Must admit it was Boxing day meal I was most concerned about as not overcooking the beef joint.
