Im not going to count calories (id soon get bored), im having smaller meals, eating healthier, however im not denying myself chocolate etc, just eat less, swap for fruit or celery etc.

I have to limit my fluid intake so cant up that.

I have an autoimmune disease which causes intense pain in joints and bones so exercise is very painful, however i will walk, today i walked just over a mile. I hope weight loss will make me more mobile

Already said but up your intake of water as it is so important, reduce your calories gradually so as not to starve yourself and get sick of feeling hungry and quit. Eat kless processed food and cook as much fresh as you can so you know there is no crap in your food, greens are tops for veg and don't rule out using omega3 and multi vit suppliments. There are so many conflicting diets out there and different ones work for different people an lifestyles so you have to find what suits you and it might take a little time to settle into a diet that's comfortable for you. Dancing and static cycling are great calorie burners as are light weights with high reps for calorie burning and toning up. I managed to lose 1.5 stone over 9 months so slow going without the mad crash diet, got next to no body fat and now on high protien meals to gain some shape, it's been like stepping back 20 years, stick with it, takes a lot of willpower, good luck

Good luck.

I’m starting again after having a bit of a break over Christmas, only put 4Lbs on though.

I’ve tried diets and none seem to work, I now just log all my meals on the My Fitness Pal app and it’s worked wonders for me, lost a couple of stone last year and hope to lose a lot more this year. Missing the gym though.

I've not started a formal weight-loss programme, but I really need to do something - I'm about as heavy now as I've ever been! I know that I should use the new lockdown to exercise more regularly, but if the previous ones are any guide, I'll probably just sit in all day, eating and feeling sorry for myself...

So for me it’s really just about maintaining my weight whilst also trying to re-comp (sculpt) my body into the shape I once was.

#1. My water intake is about 6/7L a day, I drink a lot of water & Coffee!

#2. Limiting the rewards as Xmas is now over, I only reward myself when I’ve hit the milestones I set myself (say 7 days consistently on diet, I’ll reward myself with a cheat day) - like everything if starved of it your body will crave it, so don’t starve your body! It’ll make everything 10 x harder!

#3. Moving/movements - as the gym are now shut down, if you can do a home exercise then great but a lot of people overlook the powers of walking! I fast on a 18:6 window & will normally go for an hour long walk fasted. (I feel amazingly health after it, Like a detox)

That’s it really - a lot of people over complicate it & it’s really not that hard. Just move more eat less really - it’s just finding that initial motivation to kickstart you.

Anyway, if anyone needs anything more personal they’re afraid to say on a public board you’re more than welcome to ask me any questions you may have. No question is stupid.

Good luck all - I’ll check in & see how everyone else is doing, particularly in the situation we’re in at the moment

Sorry if offended anyone I was asked, what I had, I would recommend to no one to only eat 900 cals per day,, I'm personally aiming for approx 1200 per day and will probably snack later..

I'm not a Dr... Don't pretend to be and I do not have an eating disorder,, I know my lunch was insubstantial today

I follow a few simple rules.

Exercise and move more.

Only eat things when you recognise everything on the ingredients list.

Avoid anything that contains an ingredient ending in 'ose' as it's just sugar.

Drink loads of water and wank a lot.

Count me in on this journey.

I am making some important life changes. Began doing so a few months ago & I am already seeing progress.

I am now excercising regularly whereas in the past I hardly did any formal routines.

Intermittent fasting is now something I use occasionally, alongside cutting out highly processed & sugary foods. &

home batch cooking healthy meals.

I have much more motivation this time around & hope by the time the clubs reopen, they will welcome back a healthier fitter leaner & more flexible Bella !

The long hours in the office for the next few weeks until I get things signed off normally lead to a lot of eating & snacking to get through the boredom.

That topped off with the late nights & early starts - it’s difficult to find the time to get out & exercise. So every morning I go for a fasted walk for about an hour over challenging terrain - gets the blood moving for the day & makes me feel amazing!

Breakfast is the same thing every morning after a walk as I don’t have time to cook & I’m too lazy to prep my meals. 1 Scoop Chocolate nut (Whey Protein), 40G Gluten Free oats (easier to digest in the morning), 1 banana, 1 generous scoop natural peanut butter (Mix of carbs & high fats keeping my full for longer)

I've been out with the dog and played with him in the garden

I've kept myself busy round the house because idle minds are bad for grazing

There's still a few bad things in the house that I am trying to consume in a balanced way as opposed to gorging on

So far today I've had 2 brown toast, blueberries & a banana for brekkie

Lunch was cheese, lean ham, mixed nuts and a tangerine

No bread with lunch is a big deal for me, it is my achilles heal

I've been having herbal tea instead of coffee, which cuts down on the milk

So, not 100% good, but some small steps in the right direction

I need to do this again.

It is so much easier when you’re not feeling put down by your spouse.

I was doing okay (protein mainly, 5-10k every other day on elliptical) but then depression crept over.

I can do it.

Best of luck everybody.

I probably need to lose even more than that if I'm honest. It's awful when pain restricts you from doing things you want to do. I have an air walker and excercise bike just had no real motivation if I'm honest I'm lazy. My eating isn't to bad just the excercise and yes maybe walking with someone else would of been nice xx

Maybe we can do a socially distanced walk ?

Starting a post Christmas health improvement... I’m up to 14.5 stone which is about a stone or so too much for my liking..

My biggest vice is snacking as I have treats here for when my kids stay, then pinch one or two when I’m bored.

Any tips to avoid this would be appreciated

I have a 'swag bag' for my other half

He can afford to snack, I can't

Once a month, it gets filled with choc, sweets & crisps

I then ask him to hide it and tell me when it needs topping up

It works, for me, cos I'm never that motivated to snack that I will go hunting

I walked 33000 steps today

I joined a Fitbit challenge to do 35000 steps in a day - but I'm broken now - over 4 hours only took me to 28000 then the rest was done dancing in my bedroom

I cant finish the last 2000 steps which is a shame.

Weight training - intense - heart rate above 120 per min for at least 20 mins, starts burning fat after 20 mins so the longer you can train after the 20 mins the better.

Drink water for sure BUT be sure to have Himalayan salt ....contains over 82 IMPORTANT minerals the body needs.

Simply cut ALL sugar for 2 weeks.

That's BASIC info

It's weigh day Friday!

Another 1lb off for me, and I'm super happy! That's 5lbs off since Christmas!

How is everyone else doing?

Remember, it's not what the scales say, it's what we feel! Confidence starts with accepting our bodies! I'm feeling confident with the size I am, but it's always good to lose some so I can put back on if I need a few days of comfort and luxury!

I was pretty good at it during the first lockdown, but the second one just knocked the stuffing out of me and I really can't be bothered anymore and I actively avoid looking in the mirror

I was awful during the 1st lockdown too. Was far too stressed existentially to work out. This time round it’s too bastard cold!

Honestly

And I really mean this

I'm genuinely concerned when I hear of losses over a kilo a week

I must note the real distinction between weight loss

Bone muscle water glycogen facies faeces and fat

And fat loss

Mathematically and biologically the greater the weight lost over 1 kg per week the more chance it is less proportionately fat

But in the first week of most diets/healthy eating plans, you are likely to lose more "weight", for the reasons you state.

As long as it then steadies at 2lbs ish weekly, you're grand

Its not difficult to do lol

Before and after weight

The best way to weigh is

Firstly good diet control requires a little consistency

With this you can decide to weigh weekly pre or post poo but it needs to be a constant

So i read the app wrong and had lost 4lb instead.

I worry that as i lose weight i will end up with excess loose skin. I can't really exercise much, other than limited walking and i have a kettlebell and an exercise bike, as i have problems with my joints and bones (due to an autoimmune disease) .... any ideas on ways to prevent this ?

If you suffer from joint pain I highly recommend searching “the body project” on YouTube he does a lot of low impact workouts. So like for star jumps he takes the jumps out but steps side to side so it’s not harsh on your joints. Good luck xx

My advice would be.

Drink plenty of water (3L)

Don’t use the scales as they can be disheartening.

Take pics and measurements of your progress to see how far you have come. Good luck again OP x

Most important thing is work out your calories and be in a deficit start with 200 less than what your recommended Mantance calories are and be more active. And there is so meany good apps to help count calories I personally use MyFitnessPal.

Sugar does that its due to insulin

Eat high glycemic it raises insulin which sucks sugar out of your blood which means you "need" more sugar

Its actually more addictive than co caine

And devastating

I didn't go for a walk yesterday, i was tired and in pain from the day before (childcare day which i love), so I'm going to go for a walk in a min, then have breakfast and a soak in the bath
