Apparently our overseas visitors dont want to.sit on our beaches at our seaside resorts its only us brits who do that.......so when.visiting a seaside destination do you go to the beaches???

when i went to cornwall for the first time i ended up in Pra sands.. it was stunning. I love the sea and the closer i can be to it the better

I live 1/2 a mile from the mouth of a river out to sea and 3 miles ish from the beach. Im lucky

I wonder of its a mixture of the watcher and the traditional seaside town (great Yarmouth).

Personally I like the beaches and coves down in Dorset.

I agree with you there, it is a gorgeous place.

We are not sitting on a beach type of holiday people but did walk along and sit on the three miles of beach in Hayle Cornwall a couple of weeks back, they were gorgeous when the sun shone

The smell of the sea for me is the best.. its just so fresh. Slapton Sands (devon) is very close to me and although its not a sand beach i love watching the waves crash into the pebbles.

Damm wanna go to the beach now

Must agree, went to St Ives years ago and thought is was one of the most beautiful places ever.

I do love going to the coast though, have to walk along the beach and paddle as well, it's the law. Luckily where we live we're not to far away from North Wales and even just north of Blackpool are some nice beaches to walk along.

Im not very good at sitting on the beach for a a length of time i like to walk along the top or find a sanddune.

Now there is a beach not far from plymouth not sure what the name of it is but its a national trust one. Perfect for kids, ittle rock pools and nice places for adults to sit, kids wouldnt get bored there. Nt sure the name but i dont think its 20 miles past plymouth

Love sitting on the beach whether it's rain or shine... We do have a beautiful coastline and some cracking beaches, even up here in Scotland there are some real gems, if u know where to find em, and,away from the maddening crowd!

The beach in west whittering is amazing. Absolutely huge and amazing dunes. But like most seaside towns there are no nice places to eat and the town is a bit nasty.

I've been kinda spoiled for beaches as I was growing up, but given the choice of the coast or inland, I'll still always go to the coast.

Regardless of the location, beaches are always awesome. I'm sure there's something biologically rooted in the human mind that draws us towards the sea. Odd though, cos it'll easily kill you.

So err, yes, back to the original question - yes, always go to the beach!

The funny thing is when you live there you rarely visit the beach, but as soon as you leave it all you can think of

I live less than 2-minutes walk from a tourist beach and although its great seeing families and day-trippers enjoy its pleasures during summer months, I prefer when its wild and empty the rest of the year..

I love the beach in the winter when you can walk for miles without seing another person. When the summer comes i stick to walking the clifftops, i like my solitude when walking the dog. (i'm not anti social)

Love the beach.

I agree that there's some kind of primal instinct that draws us to large bodies of water.

And like many other posters I love the seaside out of season - fewer people and you see nature in the raw.

Am off camping in mid-Wales this weekend and I had final choice of the campsite; so we're.on a cliff edge with private access to a beach

...probably something due to the weather being unpredictable and our seas are colder .... but I think there's something special about our beaches .... even when the weather is windy and cold it's lovely to wrap up and take a stroll on the beach .... I usually go to Scarborough every year and rain or shine we have an amazing time.

I used to live at the seaside and never sat on the beach...mind you it was a crap beach, all pebbley.

I don't like full on sunbathing and after a skin cancer scare have been told to avoid it anyhoo... only like the beach if I can splash about in the sea trying not to fall over

I think yer right there, I like a wander at our seasides in windy weather, watching the sea look all angry is quite mesmerising

I live very close to the beach, can smell it and hear it from my window, don't think I'd ever want to move away from it. I tend to walk the dog very early morning and avoid other people but even on the busiest of days I can usually find a spot all to myself that the tourists can't find.

I like Scarborough for the fact that there is still a fantastic grandiose Victorian look to parts of it. Not over keen on beaches in general though, get too much sand in my brogues
