I grew up with the stereo blaring bonnie Tyler, meatloaf and when there was a party, some Elkie brooks.

I remember the words and can sing along to Pearl's a Singer subconsciously!

What songs were played so much when you were a kid that you can recite them word for word

There and to the left a bit

Most early Madness songs I could recite word for word pretty much - loads of others that I could sing along to if they're playing but not remember in their entirety without the aid of the song.

There's one other I could recite but it's tainted as a result of it's singer being disgraced which is a shame as Mum used to sing it to me all the time as a kid.

We had musicals on all the time.

Whip crac a way. Calamity Jane.

Singing in the rain.

Sound of music.

I guess I'm just old fashioned

There was a country album that used to be put on in the car, with sings such as 'the crystal chandelier' and 'Lucille'

Ah those were the good old days

Patsy Cline, Jim Reeves and wait for it....Val Doonican. "Delaney's Donkey" is still my party piece. The grandkids think it's a total hoot. "Do the donkey, nanna!"

Ray Charles - in particular Hallelujah I Just Love Her So, I've Got A Woman and Shake Your Tailfeather.

My mum would always listen to Kate Bush and The Cure, one song in particular reminds me of her baking us a cake after school (Hounds of Love). Gosh this has made me feel all nostalgic.

Ditto on Madness

As for the other, come on (come on)?!

Perhaps my most memorable is Eleanor Rigby. Sad songs say so much!

The soundtrack to my childhood was cheesy country & western music (I still have a soft spot for it, truth be told - it’s a guilty pleasure).
