Age limit expanded

So as not to hijack the age limit thread directly, I though it mcreate my own to ask the question.

When it comes to your age limits (actual limits, not just the filter limits), are they set ages or are they based on so many years either side of your own age?

Example 30 - 50, or 10 years younger and 10 years older

I have a vague notion of not feeling comfortable with 12 years younger or 20 years older. It's not set in stone, just a general guide.

Personally in my head they're fixed at around 10 ish years either side. In reality though, they aren't fixed at all because it depends entirely on the person.

This is fairly new to me though, because I used to have stronger views on age differences. For example, I have a sister who is 10 years younger than me, I basically brought her up for most of her childhood and teenage years, and couldn't imagine ever finding anyone her age or younger attractive. Fab has changed my views on that in a couple of cases.

Personally I wouldn't go any older. Ideally no more than 10 years younge but would go up to 15.

Hi op!

If I were looking for a relationship - which I’m definitely not at the moment - then age would be more of an issue.

When purely looking for friendship and great sex I actually find it less complicated if the chap is much younger (25-40) as the age difference means you’re less likely to fall for each other and things don’t get messy. This is what I’ve found anyway.

I DO meet guys closer to my own age for fun and frolics too though.

I rarely meet anyone much older as I’m already knocking on a bit myself - and I’d worry about giving them a heart attack!

We generally set our limits between the age of our kids, and the age of our parents. Having said that though, it is more about how old someone "seems" to us, if their perceived age feels like they're older than our parents or younger than our kids, then sexual attraction would seem weird.

We have never asked anyone for ID in a club though.

So they are essentially X number of years either side of your own age? As you get older, your min and max age limits shift with your own age (or you kids and parents ages more accurately)

My upper age limit is flexible but my lower limit will always be 10 years above the age of my eldest daughter.

As a general rule I would probably say 10 years either side of our ages but they are flexible and depend on how the person comes across and looks. I used to have a block on anyone over 50 but someone made me see that I could be missing out!

You also have to consider that a lot of people knock a couple of years off their real ages. I'm pretty sure we have met with people more than ten years older

Ours is pretty much what we are looking for. Ot there wouldnt be much point in having it.

It depends like most things on whether we are attracted to someone and whether we hit it off and can have a laugh and decent conversation. So it not entirely set in stone..

Completely depends on the person.

I don't want to be with anyone within the age ranges of my kids or the ranges they'd date as that just weirds me out.

Going upwards I struggle more at over 50.

But in saying that I was with someone who said they were in the 40's when they actually in the 50's so who the hell knows. It's the person and level of maturity for me not the number.

I've naturally always gone for older anyway so I struggle mostly with under my age.

If i am in a club, age goes out the window and hoping if anyone is in a club, they are of the above age for swinging.

When it comes to fab or social everyday environment, has to be no younger than 10 years than me but can be any age older than me. As long as everything is in good working order, lol

My long term partners have, in order, been:

4 years younger

10 years older

9 years younger

1 year older

24 years younger

So, I guess 'around my age or younger' seems to apply

We've gone for 10yrs each side of our ages, although we'd consider a little bit of leeway. We have a son who is 18, his mates are upto about 22 so we find that kinda weird to be involved with that age group. Our youngest parent (between us both) is only just in their 50s and oldest parent is 81 and we're avoiding that age group too.

For lower its about maturity of him, lowest is 28 so far
