I may have banged my head or the boredom has really set in...

But I like to do a parachute jump, I'm think a tandem one as will have someone to hold my hand so to speak!

Anyone done one? any tips or advice?

I know I will have to have a medical as over 21 +P&P!

I may come to my senses in a wee while...

I was with the 82nd. It's fun I miss it. But the only jumps I have are static line. Haven't tried freefall. Hubby has he said it is one of the best adrenaline rushes.

See this was my logic.. but I am sat here on the sofa watching the longest day (again) and saw the men jumping...

I did parascending as a teen with an old landrover towing.... that was fun...

Lol at jumpschool the instructor told us to wear tampons when we jump. Dumbfounded we asked why. She said so we don't whistle on the way down.

This reminded me of when I went to a water park while on... the tampon came out a funny shape

Dark humor was their forte. Putting hand on your head if your main does not deploy. This way they have a handle to pick you up with when you hit the ground

I did a tandem sky dive. Considering I'm scared of heights it was amazing. Here's a statistic you are more likely to die running a half marathon than doing a sky dive

Definitely do it and I garentee you will want to do it again

Keep your mouth closed and if they offer you goggles wear them. Also if you have sensitive teeth consider wearing a mouth guard or mask. As the air rush can be painful in the free fall .

The medical should be a breeze unless you have any serious health issues. I had to get one done due to previous physical injuries.

Most jump schools do an Advanced Free Fall course that you can do in stages until you become fully qualified.

Aside from that, it's a lot safer than it looks. There's a lot of failsafe's built in to the parachute kit so the worst you're likely to suffer from is a broken limb if you land really awkwardly.

i used to live in a small town in florida, that turned out to be the skydiving centre of america.

one night i was in a bar and got talking to a guy, turned out he was one of the people taking part in a comp the next day.

he offered me a tandem jump a few days later and i did it.

i loved it, the worst bit is going out of the plane, once that bit is done then its amazing, so much so i learned to jump solo and did about 3 jumps a week.

you will either love it or hate it, but try it, my bet you will love it.

We both did it 2 years ago - amazing - our advice would be, if you can book it twice because the first time is so mad you don't really take it all in. Won't go into the sensations as it'll spoil it, but definitely do it.

I did one when I was in Hawaii, it was only 8000’ as we did not have time for the 16000’ one, when I was at the door looking out and down I was just about the turn to the guy and say I didn’t won’t to junp but before I could we were falling, it was amazing, well worth it

If you think you will only do it once(not a given as you may love it) ask your tandem to give you all the tumbles n twists they can as you leave the plane and to let you take the toggles n steer yourself for a little bit, get a dvd of your jump also, and above all else enjoy it

as an added bonus to your jump, find a charity that is doing jumps and sign up to raise a few quid, nothing like friends n family egg'n you on once you have a donation card in hand, very hard to back out then

You’ll either love it or hate it but far better to try & not like than never to have tried before.

The advice about booking two on the same day is good. I did 3 solo static line jumps, didn’t want to share a parachute

It wasn’t until 30 minutes after landing that the adrenaline kicked in. It is an absolute rush.

I did my AFF course years ago and loved it. A tandem is a great introduction to the sport. Tops tips, listen to the instructor, don't over think things on the lift to altitude and lastly, enjoy it!!

OP I've done two of them. It is THE most awesome experience ever. The first few seconds are very noisy and overwhelming, but when that chute opens......it's bloody brilliant.

Because you're drifting with the wind, it's so silent, can hear birds singing below you, and the views are brilliant!

I used to be in a club and do it most weekends but life sadly got in the way.

Do it for a good cause and raise a bit of money so at least someone benefits if both parachutes don't open

Done it 5 times.

Try Tandem first time so you don't get to change your mind.

Then, Static line jump, preferably on the same day.

If weather is always crap, do the artificial freefall in a Vertical Wind Tunnel, plenty of places do it nowadays.
