How many fans of the classic pen and paper game with the shiny click clack math rocks?

What edition did you start?, what's your class of choice?, Do you still play now?

Is D&D, Dungeons & Dragons? If so yes. But so long ago - 35 years ago.- No chance of remembering much about it.

Yes Dungeons & Dragons, 35 years ago was probably 1st or 2nd edition we're on 5e now although 3.5e is the most popular under the veteran players.

The original started in 1974 latest edition was released 2014, 5e has made it a lot simpler it's worth looking into if it's something that interests you

Cool. The Dungeon Masters Rulebook, back then was easily £20. Which was a fortune then. Could have been £35 possibly.

Yeh the core books are about £30 each now although the DMG isn't necessarily needed just gives advice more than anything

Always makes you smile when you see the iconic book cover , I think stager things (the show) rekindled a lot of intrest . Lol

Critical Role did a lot to resurge it but it's a bit long if you haven't ever seen it

Ooooh nerd flex time!

Mentzer red box edition.I've played every pretty much every version though - and a whole bunch of other RPGs.

I usually play Human fighters of some type.

And yeah - I still play

Well to answer my own questions:

-I play

-Started with 5e in 2016,

-Used to be the cleric but got bored of having to waste my game making sure others could do their thing, so have most recently played an elven ranger, and built a gnome wizard for a one shot a friend is running. But unfortunately it looks like I'm stuck as DM which is fun but also taxing.

- Obviously I still play lol

Yes! Started with 3.5, skipped 4 and now playing 5e.

Luckily have been able to continue running my campaign over Skype & roll20 during the lockdowns - not quite as good as in person but gets me my fix

Worthing

I've played a couple of pen, paper, dice games. Second time I was dungeon master and set it up myself. Enjoyed both times. Played a lot of computer 'text' only adventures including the classic Colossal Cave.

I (Mr) tried to get into it but I'm dyslexic and the sheer amount of information was impossible for me to pick up. I do, however still get involved in the community, using my leather craft skills I make dice poaches, cups, trays and I'm working on a dm board too

Mostly on Arena for me - I'm not spending money on cards as I can't play with real life opponents. It's still a time vampire though

There are plenty of accessible ways to play one of my players is Dyslexic too but with a bit of patience and understanding anyone is able to play

I played with a dyslexic player a few years back. They had colour coded their sheet so could track things through. I imagine it was a shit load of work but it helped her

Roll20 is where inrun my campaign it's good because the amount of effort needed depends if you want to buy the books digitally or physically

If you buy digital adventures it sets up the map for you. But with physical you need to build the maps etc.

I did not realize I had previously had an account. I am looking to get back into gaming.

A fab campaign would be awesome.

It doesn't matter what game system as I could learn the basics.

Stockport

I started playing again about 2 years ago after a 30 year hiatus, we play 5e. Back in the day I played ad&d, call of cthulu and rune quest.

Can never be bothered with magic users, too rule/book heavy for me. Love a cleric though, mostly human but the occasional dwarf.

Started playing March 2020 during lockdown

Playing in a homebrew campaign which was supposed to be a one shot or maybe a few sessions, we’re still going!

Level 7: fighter-3/wizard-4 school of necromancy dwarf

19 INT

AC 22 which I boost to 27

Royal pain in the arse for the DM at times

An tanky wizard who can action surge can deal some serious damage

Carlisle usually

I started with 5e and have tried a few others since, but always cycle back around to 5e eventually.

Look for game groups and cafes in your local area if you're wanting to get started. If there's enough underground nerd scene for me to find multiple groups up here you're bound to have something remotely local. If not then look for online games.

Many game stores are part of the Adventurers League. Weekly ine-off adventures... very beginner friendly.

Should be easy enough to find on Google x
